How do I get the Dataview creator added to my instance if it is not currently there after enabling the legacy option?
@CrazyCanuck55Ай бұрын
Answered it with CW support. I didn't have the option available to enable the setting, but you can manually add the property in the General Configurations. Once you refresh all the caches Dataview Creator was available....now to figure out how this queries work.
@ProValTechnologiesInc29 күн бұрын
Just in case anyone else needs this information! You can turn on the legacy dataview creator by navigating to System > Configuration > Dashboard > Config Tab > Control Center Tab in Automate. And mark the checkbox for “Display Legacy Category Check Box” and save the update. Then navigate to System > Configuration > Dashboard > Config Tab > Configuration Tab > Properties and add the property “DataviewCreator” and set the value to “True” and save it. Relaunch the control center the legacy dataview creator should be available under the Legacy > Dataview Creator menu. connectwise20.my.site.com/serviceandsupport/s/article/Create-a-Custom-Dataview Good luck!

My devices that auto retire don't tend to check back in when they're online again, have you ever been able to solve that?
@ProValTechnologiesInc29 күн бұрын
Devices that haven’t checked in for a while and try to check back in sometimes have an old connection string to Automate so it cannot connect properly. The best way to get around that is to reinstall the agent. We have also found that removing the retired assets can help. When there is no matching data when the agent checks back in, it will attempt to check in as a new agent and that seems to help a bit. We don’t have a perfect solution for this issue. We use our connection via RMM+ in ScreenConnect to check online/offline status of agents to get them online, we also use the active directory plugin to look for machines that have checked into the domain but do not have an Automate agent on them. We also leverage some data from the network probes to try and look for online devices without an agent. So it’s generally a multi-pronged approach to keeping agents online and checking in with Automate. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I followed this to setup an "Is device Windows 11 capable" script on all our managed workstations so we can see which ones need to be replace before Windows 10 EOL.
@Saculmit7 ай бұрын
I just right click the computer, then go to Control>Redeploy. We've been having Control flake out and need to use this method fairly often lately. Would be great if there were an Automate script that could tell when the device is online, but Control is unavailable to just automatically redeploy. I've yet to find a downside to using redeploy, so even if it catches some it didn't need to redeploy, it shouldn't hurt anything.

Hi there, One of my clients is having an issue in backup with veeam for exchange backup and shows an error with VSS writer also sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. What might be the issue for that?
@ProValTechnologiesInc9 ай бұрын
Hey there, Here are a few suggestions: 1) You should make sure there are not other conflicting backups occurring, that can lock VSS writers and cause that kind of issue. 2) Use your RMM to monitor VSS writer health 3) Regular Reboots of the server - probably weekly would be ideal to keep things healthy with the VSS writers 4) Verify using a Services Account on the Guest VM to ensure that it is not a password issue for the guest processing that could be causing part of the issue Hope this helps! - ProVal Tech

i've had a lot more issues with Win11. Constant freeze and doesn't load up properly. Is there a custom Control Center for Win11?
@ProValTechnologiesInc Жыл бұрын
Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. There are a few things that can cause issues with the control center. The primary items are AV related - have you ensured that you have the proper exclusions enabled: docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_Automate_Documentation/060/040/010 Or it could be permissions, this article may help: docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_Automate_Documentation/020/020 We always recommend removing the local cache (%programdata%\LabTech Client), uninstalling, and then installing as admin on the device. Also please ensure that you run the control center as admin as well. Here is the open knowledge base article related to this issue: connectwise20.my.site.com/serviceandsupport/s/article/Automate-Control-Center-keeps-crashing-every-few-hours Sorry we do not have a great solution for this, but please follow some of these steps to see if it increases stability for you. Hi I want to restrict which sessions logged in users can access. If the machine name is computer1, only someone who logs in with the username computer1 can access the machine. GuestMachineName = '$USERNAME' I tried but it didn't work. Can you help me?
@ProValTechnologiesInc Жыл бұрын
Hi Canerserbest512 Thanks for your question! We've setup something similar to this before, however we do not recommend using the name of the computer. We typically use one of the other properties available that are not in use currently. We rename it to something like "machine access" or "my devices" or something along those lines. In that field, we'll add the email address of the user that can access that device. (It can be comma separated I believe.) And then when you setup the session group, you set the session group to only show devices that have that matching email address. That way they can see the devices quite easily. It essentially mirrors the setup generated by the remote workforce extension. That also would likely help you solve your issue. This guide from ConnectWise should help you get started with remote workforce - docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_ScreenConnect_Documentation/Get_started/Remote_Workforce_hub/Remote_Workforce_user_guide Hope this helps!

I see how to set a custom field.. how do we "read" or "get" the value in a custom field?
@ProValTechnologiesInc Жыл бұрын
Hi @ChrisMoffatt7687 - great question! To view the data, navigate to the specific device, and head over to the Custom Fields tab. The custom field output, so long as the field has been updated, will be visible there. To interact with that data inside of a script, you’ll need to use the task function called “Set Pre-defined Variable.” When you use that function you’ll see in the editor two options, one for a System Variable, and one for a Custom Field. You’ll need to select custom field, select your field, and then the script will store that data in whatever you call the variable. Here is a screenshot: i.imgur.com/Lys9qga.png We’ll add this to our list of video ideas! Thank you for watching!

I've come acrosse a problem, that everytime a ticket is created, it automatically closes if the percentage changes. So for example if the drive has 7% remaining and it changes to 5% the first ticket is closed and another ticket is opened, which makes it really hard to monitor. Do you have any idea how to keep the initial ticket open and only have it closed when the drive is over 10% free space? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I had an instance where I disabled an location from patching, yet they still patched. I used the Ignite, patching, uncheck the two checkboxes for server/workstations. I had a chat with a Connectwise rep and he said to restart the DB agent when making such changes to ensure they are pushed out to the envt. Does that sound correct? Seems off to me. Thank you for your help! -Tom
@ProValTechnologiesInc Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! On the machines in question, you might need to check the effective patching policy on the devices and ensure the device isn't getting policies applied from any other groups. To check this, please go into the patch manager, go to the Device tab (Upper left monitor shaped icon). Find an example machine or two. Click on the device, that should populate the lower patch information window. On the left of the lower pane, you should see a "Groups" option. This will be that devices effective patching policy. You should be able to see any patch policy applied to that device. It could be getting the settings from another group. We do often see partners applying Microsoft Update Policies to the "Approvals - XXXX" groups and that can cause confusion. Please check the effective policy on the devices and see if the settings are being applied from something else. - ProVal Tech

Do you know if there is a way to run a PowerShell script in which the output has multiple values (such as an object or csv string) and then in the script editor to split it into multiple variables?
@ProValTechnologiesInc29 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, at this time, there is not a variable split function in CW RMM like there was in CW Automate. My developers mentioned that you can have everything return into a single string, and then you can work on splitting the output using PowerShell, but it still has to be something like ‘Get part one, write part one to custom field’ then ‘get part two, write part two to custom field’, etc. We are hoping to see more features in the scripting engine that will allow for this functionality. But right now, there is not a very straightforward way to accomplish this. Sorry! Good luck!

@ProValTechnologiesInc Жыл бұрын
Hi There, Files uploaded in components within Datto RMM are stored in the same folder as the script. This directory is produced by the agent (CentraStage) Here's Datto's article on it: rmm.datto.com/help/en/Content/4WEBPORTAL/Components/Scripting.htm Specifically, you'd be looking at "Generate a PowerShell script" This goes more into how attached files operate.
