That helped a lot. Thanks for being precise and concise.

Can you just be my respiratory instructor? I feel like I have to find videos for every lesson and yours are so well done.

You just made my day! I will say if you’re struggling with content just reach out. Maybe I have something or I can make something and post it onto KZbin. Do you follow me on Instagram or Facebook? I put up weekly test questions there to give a little extra insight.

Hello! I went to RT school like 5 years ago and nobody talked about this at that time, I’m worried. I wonder if my knowledge is already obsolete? 🤔
@respiratoryhq208215 күн бұрын
Your knowledge is not obsolete. It's a law of physics and it used to be very popular to temperature correct ABGs. But not so much anymore. But if a physician were to ask for a temperature corrected gas, it would be a good idea to know what they are talking about.

I really appreciate how you break down the question. As you mentioned there is more PaCO2 in venous blood but that will Increase not decrease and in the question it specifically states "decrease". Thanks!

Oxygenation and ventilation being two separate things is such a pain in the ass. My CO2 rises enough to make my heart race every time I eat. I have to breathe against pressure to make it stop. An exercise mask that doesn't block air coming in but can block it going out is the only thing I've found other than bipap. Which, at least I can grab the mask because I don't have time to sit on bipap several times a day.

Thanks for all your amazing content, I am always learning from you! I'd like to add that this actually works great on adults, skin thickness isn't usually an issue. Perfusion does come into play as you mentioned. If you are just monitoring CO2, you can use the lower temp and calibrate/check site at 8 hours. The technology has come a long way!

Thank you ! I’m in first semester of RT school and this was very helpful. I think sometimes professors rely too heavily on reading straight from the PowerPoint which can make it hard to get an understanding of the concepts. This was simple and easy to understand.

Thank you for the comment. You are correct, SIMV is falling out of favor but it is still used in some areas of the US. The NBRC, our credentialing agency, still tests on this. My purpose is to help people understand and apply this knowledge for testing purposes.
