I just found a place who will build me the exact neck I wanted, hmmm. I might be able to assemble a pretty dope bass if I just drop 900 bones on a fretless 5 neck, get double reinforced rods medium D shape, 12 -16 radius ck hardware and that dark ebony fretless board, nice and fat 5 string sturdy neck, inverse inline headstock with ebony veneer, this gives you a tighter B and looser G instead of the reverse, which is perfect for a 34 vs 32 scale for me is a big deal !. things 24 frets is too many, I prefer 21 frets. 30-34 inches is too big of a deal. You like to make things hard, for yourselves ?. I need to wet my 34 bass down some, throw some chicken grease on there, boil them strings or something, thing plays better if damp or something. You like friction, I guess and these frets are like hitting curbs on a bike, boom, boom, boom, ouch. Why jumbo frets or wait, why frets ?. Can anyone give me a good reason to want frets ?. I can't buy more fretted basses unless I had a reason to. Becomes a fret fest

I've just bought a EB copy with an Artec Mudbucker, researching on Fly Guitars shows the electrics/wiring for Gibson basses, great website with much info. Seems the best Capacitor for the Mudbucker is .033 uf which is on the original EB0, although EB0 also has a .01 uf Capacitor as a high pass filter to tame those earth shattering frequencies of the original Mudbucker.

I own the 4-string version of this bass and absolutely love it. Thanks for reviewing the various settings. I like the way you play... perhaps you could get a job as a standup comic! Am so glad to finally see a review of this bass, be it the 4 or 5 string. Personally, I don't care for the piezo pickup(s). Concerns the fretboard markers, just go to a professional luthier and have him/her place nice inlays on the edge of the neck to replace the too small dots.

The HH had som rattle in the strings, but that was the only difference I noticed. Probably more of a play style issue perhaps.

I always wanted a yellow P-Bass, but they don't offer this colour here in Germany at the moment. I hope Squier will bring this edition to Europe, too.

The only problem I have with mine is being able to drop tune it but having to deal with fret buzz and strings rattling. I feel like I have to adjust the truss rod and saddles every time I change tunings! I’m thinking about changing string gauges cause I primarily play metal, but I think I’ll need a luthier to file out the nut a bit for my low string…😮

i bought a Squier classic vibe Jazz bass and it's absolutely beautiful. I agree with the neck issues and it just gets worse from here. I have to agree and recommend to get a mexican Fender instead. i have one that still sounds amazing, and no neck issues.

I have a ibanez btb 1005e from 2004. It's a very cool piece of history for ibanez, the first btb to use bartolini pickups, tho they're single coil on the 1005e, and the neck is bolt on

Dang it, 🦞. I've been eyeing this bass for a little while. I saw this review a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with it. Almost everyone has them backordered, but I was lucky enough to find ONE rose gold 4 string at a mom and pop guitar shop in Texas that was discounted because it was open box. It looked great in the provided pictures so I jumped on it and can't wait for the post office to finally deliver it! I hope I have better luck with the tuners on mine since neither Gotoh or Hipshot have a no drill drop in solution. 🤞

Was going to look into area j pups for my five string v7, but I don’t think they’d fit as they’re not standard fender spaced (the tabs for the screw seem to be closer together than the sire pickup tabs) looking into some nordy dual coils now. Wish they’d fit they sound great!

Squire has better/preferred tonality and balance. If I am going buy the bass for the starter, I would pick Squire. But for my case, already have a good main bass, I would buy Harley Benton because cheaper price and good tunner, and easy to experiment new things on bass in sonically and hardware.

I put them on. I usually replace strings immediately on basses I review unless they're rocking good flats (Sterling Joe Dart for example)

Love the matching top there! Nice touch :-) Btw I realise this is old now, but is there any chance you can redo a pup/premap install on a Sterling Ray 4 or dig out the old vid of you doing that? I was never able to find the actual instructional vid where you swapped out both the pup and the preamp after watching it once before I got my bass. Anyway, great vid here.
