I read Spiritual Midwifery early on. I went on to have six children all born naturally, no anesthesia, 3 home births. I agree totally with what In a May said here. The U. S. has terrible statistics for both maternal and baby survival rates compared to Europe, the UK and especially Holland. It is obvious that more intervention in the normal birth processes does not lead to better outcomes.

Sometimes it seems we have forgotten how to be human in modern society. Emphasis on birth seems like an excellent path back to finding our humanity.

This woman sexualized *child birth* it's not MEANT to be pleasurable. It's painful but that's just the way it works. It's not a fucking myth that anyone is trying to get you to believe. If your that worried about the pain that you would give yourself an orgasm through it then you should have children. How sex driven are you that you feel the need to have an orgasm on the day of your child's birth??? I've never heard of anything more shameful.

Something that saved me for my last natural birth is knowing that: If you sit up straight in the last month of pregnancy (don't slouch) then you will not have back labor! I guess correct posture encourages the baby to move into the proper direction in preparation for birth. Can you expand on this? I had back labor for my first two natural births and OOOWWWEEE!! I am going to have my 4th natural birth in a month and you can bet I am sitting up straight! :) Thank you God for the wisdom passed down from midwives.

Thank you for putting this together Yelena and thank you to Maria for being such a blessing at El Camino LG. I love it when my doula clients say they are using you and Lin, or sometimes they transfer care to you. Yay!!
