I feel so stupid with the IEP. I'm a special needs person and I have special needs children. I had a IEP. Can you help me.

I don’t have that problem. Oh! How they sing my praises as they assure me I am certainly enough and our numbers for resource are not high enough to consider hiring another special education teacher.

As a student I had people I didn't know at my meetings and had to figure it myself the number of times I was allowed to come. I didn't even know what a school counselor was till half way through grade 11.

From late elementary or middle school age up, I would encourage parents/guardians to request that their child be put with an aide who is of the same gender (or who was assigned the same gender at birth) as the child. Before anybody goes off on me, this is not meant to be sexist. This is just in case the child ends up needing to discuss certain things that the opposite gender (or those who were assigned the opposite gender at birth) most likely has never, and will never have to deal with firsthand. Now, in the younger grades (such as pre-K or early elementary school), it really doesn't matter whether or not the aide is of the same gender as the child, because unless the child has had precocious puberty, they most likely will not need to discuss certain issues that the opposite gender might not feel comfortable discussing.

Ooopmh, as a parent this has my head spinning as far as my vision for his inclusive education in relation to goals.

What happens when therapists think it’s wasteful for them to push in service, yet parent feels it’s wasteful for child to be pulled out?

Is there a quick list parents can use in order to request data? For example, in addition to progress/report cards/IEP meetings.. how can we easily request present level information in order to prep ourselves for a meeting? Ex. I have no idea where my child is in regard to ELA or math. And many times it’s opinions or not easily understood. If there’s line items on a report card or covering core curriculum, how do we know where are kids stand not just on IEP goals but in relation to the curriculum as a whole. If that makes sense.

My son is 5 & ASD last year the school year no OT no teacher. We put in other school no speech but there is teacher. My son didn't make progress . Actually his behavior getting worst . And last week with out any IEp meeting to counitenue the school year ..... what I do

I doubt any liberal run indoctrination academy, aka, public school would allow a parent to have that kind of control
