Too vinegary and sweet and clashes with eggs. Might be good on meat but I don't think it has a deep complex pepper flavor. I won't buy it . I had it at a restaurant and didn't like it. It is basically hot, sweet and vinegar flavored.

I just bought some,it's a little hotter than traditional,more spice,but not to bad,I'm a Tabasco lover so that tells,but not quite as good as the one I'm used to,I'll use it and it'll be a good change from the regular Sriracha sauce that we have come to like so much, something different,but keep the old standard handy, you'll never change completely, but still use the Tabasco brand when you're out of the regular!lol!

I've been a hot sauce connoisseur as long as I can remember, and a fan of sriracha since trying the Huy Fong brand at Lee's 1$ Chinese in Santa Monica in 1994. I was immediately impressed. Over the years I've tried many sriracha brands and my two favorites are Huy Fong and Lee Kum Kee. One of my least favorite srirachas is Trader Joe's which is unfortunate because I've a big fan of Trader Joe's since the 70s and find most of their products of very high quality. Huy Fong is not as good as it used to be. I have only tried the classic red variety, never the green or yellow, but I'd like to. Besides sriracha I love Tabasco, Crystal, Louisianna/Red Rooster, Tapatio, and many Mexican hot sauces. I can handle the heat, but I want balance. I want complexity inn a sauce, but definite focus. I want hot sauces to stand out with distinction, not taste like mere imitations of each other.

Scorpion is an opportunity to enjoy the real thing without a customary visit to Hades. I find it about as hot as a strong Habanero salsa, and not so strong that you lose that lovely pepper taste. For the record, I really find Habanero pepper much too much to munch on its own, but I love the taste of the Habanero. So this sauce is strong, but enjoyably strong, I like it.

The original version tastes better in my opinion but, the XXX is definitely better than the newer Apollo or the current iteration with the powder and “distillate” in it…no flavor really, just pure heat 😔

Used to live just up the street from the guy who owns and runs Pex Peppers…can’t confirm obviously but, when I talked to him he said it’s about of a dozen peppers in each bottle. This was roughly 4-5 years ago so, I could be wrong…it could have changed since then etc. I do, however, remember the trip to the emergency room after I shook the bottle and the cap flew off. Apparently my wife’s friend had smelled it and didn’t put it back on right…still have a functioning right eye but, the pain at the time was not awesome - it was enough for me to panic a little bit 😂

The short answer is no. HOWEVER. This tastes fantastic. I can and will survive the rooster sauce shortage easily with Tabasco sriracha.

I never was a big fan of Huy Fong as it seemed a bit too vinegary for me. I watched America's Test Kitchen's review of Hot Sauces, and I like the one they rated #1: KIKKOMAN Sriracha. It's a bit thicker than Huy Fong and has more complex flavors. It is hard to find in stores, so I order it off of Amazon.
