Negative. The stock valve springs are ok with the 30/30. You’d only need heavier springs with Star Racing’s F35A and bigger

I’m finna do a cam on my bike and currently have a tabs 2-1-2 head pipe and tab bam sticks wondering if I need to go to D&D 2-1 or if the 2-1-2 Is gonna produce good number ?! Any input on that

Some people say there are cams easier to tune and others a little trickier to tune properly. Is it true? Where would you put the S&S 475 in that scale? Which cam or cams do you consider the easiest to tune?

Great information thanks im about to put a Star 3/4 cam in my low rider s i drag race this in New Zealand i have the inntention later to go with the full race cam from Star Racing i have done the heads it is a 131 i am upgrading flywheel will i only have to replace clutch basket any helpfull tips would be appreciated

Do you tune this cam with khrome Werks outlaw 2 into 1s. I having trouble getting mine to run right and they are having troubke dynoing it in. My number are lower then this on my road glide ST 117

My question is does that Motor throw off an extreme amount of heat? Next beside the gears was that just a bolt in cam? Replace push rods? How's the noise coming from the cam chest?

After tuning, the motor temp drops considerably. The S&S 585 is bolt-on for 2005 and up Twin Cams. We did not perform the motor work, so not sure if he went with the adjustable pushrods, but would recommend. No additional noise from this cam chest, but noise because of gear drive is a result of excessive or improper gear lash.

@@jcsperformance2778 that's my concern for the 103's.. Have an 01 Dyna and she's strong, no issues with the gears in her except for the noise.. Down the road I might put a drop in cam in the 103?

Yeah, something isn't right about that. In cars, that make more power with similar displacement, the systems continue to fuel properly with common intake and exhaust mods. Only something like a full race header can create a high load leaner situation.

Why not the complete S&S kit with something like a 475? I did that to my '23 117. Pretty easy. Point of interest my 117 already had the updated Koyo cam bearing in it from the factory. I replaced it anyway but really did not need to. I wasted a bit of $$$ on tooling to do that. The part # is visible...replacing that cam bearing is NOT always necessary.

So if one is losing engine oil with no visible oil leak, that would be a sign of sumping? Also did you ever check run out.

We check run out every time a cam is changed. No, you wont loose oil as a symptom of sumping. It will not be returning from crankcase to the oil pan..making it seem like you are low on oil, but in actuality it is overfilling the crankcase.

@@jcsperformance2778 With 594 lift cams and high lift valve springs there will be alot of stress on the camchains and the tensioners allowing inaccuracey in cam timing. I found, with S&S 640 cams, that the extra pressure from the (AT&T) valve springs caused the lifters to 'bounce' about on the ramps of the cams causing premature wear to them - I then fitted gear drive cams in order to minmise this. The lifters are Hylift-Johnson, the oil pump and camplate were Screaming Eagle but the camplate was damaged by the oil pump rotors which I replaced with S&S TC3 oil pump and an S&S camplate.

The S&S 465 is a better match for the 107ci, but we did not perform the work on this motor. Just installed the 5.5 injectors and tuned.
