My son is a really good high school LB but trying to polish some things. He has a bad habit of having a false step or stepping back. Any drills that can help with this? Thanks 🙏🏾

Great video! Learned so much. I'm transitioning from oline coach to oline/dline coach...this video is simple and effective!

This is bad teaching. Head across creates concussions. When RB actually lowers his head and shoulder, now you get the defender head coming across low ALSO. It becomes helmet to helmet.

Excellent teaching!!! Learning how to tackle,lowers your chances on being stiff-armed or grown manned!!! 😂 keep it up coach!!! Hall of fame players are taught by legendary coaches!!!! Peace,love,and happiness!!!

So the playside backer is spilling the ball to the backside backer. Kinda strange to me. PSB could just fit with his inside shoulder pad and force the ball back to his buddy. Do the play inside zone the same?

Why doesn't the flowside backer keep his outside arm free in order to force the ball carrier back to the middle?

Probably because they are in shorts and they are simulating meeting in the hole. It’s not always going to be a perfect tackle.

Head across no good anymore... You teach that you cause more concussions. Near shoulder Head back side. Still effective without causing concussions. I've been coaching for over 20 years. Coaches have to help improve players safety!!
@advantphoenix78923 жыл бұрын
So your head should be in the inside of the player rather than across their body?
@davidortiz44923 жыл бұрын
@@advantphoenix7892 more like head should be back side of ball carrier. Near shoulder, Near leg. Or chest up, square up, chest attacking near shoulder, upper cut both arms, running feet, wrapping up.
@kalinwaters62852 жыл бұрын
That or just make the players connect their hips to the runner. The hips are the power points in tackling.
@davidortiz44922 жыл бұрын
@@kalinwaters6285 exactly Sir. Hip is the aiming point!! But head across not the right technique.
@kalinwaters62852 жыл бұрын
@@davidortiz4492 for sure. I teach to see what you hit. Too much coaching on head points i feel is dangerous as well.
