Im planning to make these diy centerpieces a day or two before my wedding. How would you take care of them leading up to the big day and still maintain its beauty? Im also going to assume youd add water to the bowl, but how would you prevent water from spilling when transporting in a vehicle?
@FlowerMoxie2 күн бұрын
We have an entire DIY Academy to help you with all of this, and DIY Flower Packages. You can make it up to two days before your wedding and yes, you will have some sloshing during transfer. You'll need to tip it out a bit, and refill at the venue. Florist life! 😆 Check us out, doll! FlowerMoxie.com

If you use a foam iglu cage you can make it the day before, just remember to re-wet the foam the following day and store it in a cool location or the fridge. And avoid heavy drinkers like hydrangeas, which would be too fatty for the iglu anyways!

My blush butterfly ranunculus are curling up, not sure why that is happening. Do you know why they may be doing that?
@FlowerMoxie11 күн бұрын
That's just how they are, they are very soft, sensitive flowers that have a more organic vibe. If you have a cooler, keep them there.

How many flowers in total do you need to make a large centerpiece like that? Thanks!
@FlowerMoxie10 күн бұрын
This is tricky because it depends on the flowers you're using. We used 2 bunches of greenery, 10 quicksand roses, and ~7-9 hydrangeas here. Check out our DIY packages on our site where we have suggested recipes for ceremony urns for each package! flowermoxie.com/pages/moodboard-packages

Do you use the regular natural flower foam for dry also?
@FlowerMoxie10 күн бұрын
We used a wet floral foam cage (but *without* soaking in water!) because that foam tends to be softer. However, you can use dry as well!

How early could you build these for a wedding? Assuming you keep them in ample clean water and a cool place? I love the look of these and hope to have a mix of these and bud vases
@FlowerMoxie17 күн бұрын
You could build these 1-2 days ahead of time and, like you said, keep an eye on the water and keep 'em cool. You've got this!!

Correct - fresh cut flowers need a water source to say fresh and hydrated!

Question... If I wanted to do this and let it dry, how would I go about that? As far as preserving the baby's breth while it's assembled?
@FlowerMoxie12 күн бұрын
Baby's breath can dry out by itself in a large build like this. The blooms would shrink a bit but would still have that cloud effect and should hold its shape. You could also start with preserved baby's breath instead of fresh!

When you green out an arbor or frame like in this video , you put the greens into chicken wire without a water source. I am confused. Should you have it inserted into foam? Or, will it last for a day or 2 without water. Should you mist it with water? Do you recommend a flower or greenery spray for greens? Crowning glory? Please advise.
@FlowerMoxie24 күн бұрын
Greenery can be added to a frame like this the night before. If you add flowers, pop them in the morning of and don't use anything too delicate like anemones or ranunculus. Stick with hardy flowers like roses and carnations. With an arbor, you can use foam cages or garland for a water source. We have built an arch with baby's breath and roses without a water source, and it's recommended to build that day of. Misting with Crowning Glory or water will help keep them hydrated, especially in the warmer weather months!
@reflexedrose1879Ай бұрын
So tired of people dissing foam. It's a great tool to use. Chicken wire is just plain stupid. It leads to over stuffing and shifting of the arrangement.
@fenimorerutlandАй бұрын
caring about the Earth is never stupid.
@FlowerMoxie24 күн бұрын
Chicken wire can be tricky to start, as you want to make sure your arrangement crosses a few stems to start with as a solid base. Foam tends to be easier for beginners and Agrawool is a great eco friendly alternative to foam!

@@FlowerMoxie Gee, really? I've been doing this and teaching it since the 1970's, I had no idea. Thousands of weddings, sympathy work and events using everything you can imagine but thank you so much for the info. Even the youngings I know who swear they don't use foam are in the wholesaler buying it for sympathy work and when I suggest making a wreath or cross from chicken wire and using sheet moss they just wrinkle their noses and say it's too much work

How do you preserve the Spanish moss? We’re getting our florals made with silk flowers but with real SM. Do we continue to spray them to keep alive or just keep them still then spray them a week before the wedding?

spanish moss is already dried so you'll use it as-is with your silks!

Are premade bouquets more or less pricey? I would much rather have the florist make the bouquets unless the price is way higher!
@FlowerMoxieАй бұрын
So it's kinda comparing apples and oranges, but lemme explain! Our Ready-made Bouquets are going to be cheaper than a florist, but when you go with a florist, you're getting full service and you don't have to fluff them up and process them. We serve DIY couples and brides so we offer DIY from scratch and Ready-mades. They average out to be the same price and I personally like ready-mades because it cuts out so much work for our clients!
