UPDATE : Since I don't speak in this video, I couldn't provide any explanations as to why I like a theme over another. For future videos, I'll probably put a bottom text or something to give a reason to the themes placements. But it should be fairly obvious that this ranking is based on my opinion and I think I kinda have weird takes when it comes to Pokémon music. Also, I got a couple of questions about either missing themes or characters so let's get into that. Missing Characters : Lucas, Dawn, Ethan, Lyra, Lillie, Penny, Arven, Carmine, Akari and Rei. For me, all of these characters are not rivals. Lucas, Dawn, Ethan, Lyra, Lillie, Akari and Rei don't even have a designated battle theme. Penny is the leader of the villainous Team Star. Arven seeks your help and don't have any kind of rivalry towards you. Carmine I uh… didn't played the Scarlet and Violet DLC so I probably look like a buffoon right now. However! I do regret not putting their themes in here because aside from the "Rivals" category I don't know which category their themes would fit in the best. Penny's theme will be ranked in a future evil teams themes ranking video, though. Missing Themes : Hau (Alola Champion), Hop (Final Battle), Marnie (Final Battle), Kieran (Blueberry Academy Champion). In retrospect, I don't think it was clever of me to purposefully leave out those themes. The reason why I didn't include them is because these themes are for a Pokémon League setting. Champion Hau, Champion Kieran, NOT an Elite Four member Hop (but serves as one) and same for Marnie. That's why I didn't include Blue's Champion theme, Trace's Champion theme and N's Champion theme. But why would I include Nemona's final battle theme? After all, Nemona is a Champion. While she's definitely a Champion (one of my personal favorites, in fact) she's not THE Champion you have to defeat after you've beaten the Elite Four members to obtain yourself the title of a Champion ranked trainer. Again, it was already too late when I realized that it shouldn't be the setting that defines a "Rival Battle Theme" but rather the trainer you confront. Some Themes Placements : ORAS Wally at 14th place and the Kieran disrespect. ORAS Wally's theme is a banger, no doubts. But its biggest flaw for me is its short length and because of that it's easier, for me, to get tired of it. Now onto my boy, Kieran. It's already been a month since this video came out and, at the time, I haven't played the DLC of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. I still haven't to this day BUT after watching some let's plays of the DLC, Kieran quickly became one of my favorite characters in the entire franchise! I misjudged his battle themes, at first, but that was because it was my first time listening to it and I was not used to it yet. After listening to it a lot more, if I were to rank Kieran's Kitakami battle theme and its final version, they would be between 11th and 10th place.

UPDATE : People asked me how did I get specific Pokémon in certain games, this pinned comment is for answering a lot of the questions I received. What's important to know is that these teams are a mix between my game teams and those I would use if I were in the Pokémon anime because the games can be limiting when it comes to the amount of Pokémon available. While playing a Pokémon game, I like to imagine myself journeying with my buddies and pocket monsters. If you still have questions, feel free to ask me. I'll be happy to answer them. - Pokémon Yellow : Pokémon did not have genders yet, but when I transferred them to later games they were given genders and I wanted to display them earlier. You can have all the three Kanto starters in this game, that's why I used Charizard and Ivysaur. - Pokémon Gold : Totodile, my second starter, was traded to me by my friend. Phanpy on the other hand, it hatched from it's egg in my headcanon because I couldn't use a Donphan in Pokémon Gold. (I caught a Phanpy in the Sevii Islands in Pokémon Fire Red) - Pokémon Ruby : In the anime (more like in my head where I'm the main character) I caught a Bagon before the eight gym, but in the games, you cannot catch a Bagon in the wild before the final gym. - Pokémon Fire Red : All the team members are legit. - Pokémon Soul Silver : I like to think I would have brought back my Larvitar and evolved it in a later journey. The thing is, it's impossible to bring a Pokémon from the Virtual Console Pokémon Gold to the Nintendo DS Pokémon Soul Silver. Every other team members are legit although Snorlax is not available until you reach Kanto. - Pokémon Pearl : I started another Platinum file just so I could catch a Gligar there and then I traded myself that Gligar with its evolution item in Pearl. Same goes for Chimchar. That other Platinum file wasn't part of the journey, the real Platinum adventure would start right after the Pearl one. - Pokémon Platinum : In the anime, I got the Lucario egg earlier and Rotom evolved sooner. Electabuzz, from Game Boy Advance Pokémon Fire Red, was able to travel to Nintendo DS Pokémon Platinum. Magmar, from Virtual Console Pokémon Gold, couldn't make it. Though, it will later be able to be transferred in Pokémon Ultra Moon along with all my other Pokémon from all my travels up to the ultra game. - Pokémon White : All the team members are legit. - Pokémon Black 2 : In the anime, I caught a Deino before I reached the Pokémon League because, in the game, you can only catch it's evolved form Zweilous in the postgame. - Pokémon X : Strong Ash's Kalos team influence. Goomy didn't really hatched from an egg, I caught it on route 14. - Pokémon Omega Ruby : Both Beldum and Carvanha were obtained earlier. - Pokémon Ultra Moon : Since I wanted to have two starters, I started a first file and I picked Rowlet. Once this was done, I moved this Rowlet in Pokémon Bank and then I started another file where I could send it in for a journey across Alola. - Pokémon Shield : Unovan Darmanitan and Ditto gave me Galarian Darumaka, a Pokémon Sword exclusive. In both DLCs of Pokémon Shield, I just used a bunch of Pokémon I wanted to have in my journey. - Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu : All the team members are legit… but not in this game. I evolved them in Ultra Moon and I initially wanted to transfer them in Let's Go Pikachu but then I found out I couldn't even transfer anything in the Let's Go games. - Pokémon Shining Pearl : The Diamond & Pearl remakes did not turned out like I wanted them to be… With returning Pokémon from my past travels, we speedrun through the game to finish it as fast as possible. - Pokémon Legends Arceus : Pokémon Home gives you Hisuian Starters if you transfer something from Legends Arceus to Pokémon Home. As you can see, three starters in my team. - Pokémon Violet It's a love/hate relationship between this game and me, but you're not here for that. Once the Pokémon Home connectivity for this game released, I speedrun the game with Pokémon I previously used and I finished the game for me to never going through it again. Didn't even bought the DLC. But, someday, I will give this game another chance. What a long comment…

Even though most team members are from Kanto and Johto, I wanted to let myself use any Pokémon from all nine generations. Remakes where all the current Pokémon could have been caught / transferred / defied. In the next regions though, I will restrict myself to use only Pokémon from their region and generation since after thinking about it, it's more interesting being limited rather than having a Johto Gym Leader use a Sinnoh Pokémon, for example. Now it'll be like playing an already existing Pokémon game but with different Gym Leaders.
