If I had to RENAME these sound tracks (love their original names tho): 0:00 Assault - Sounds like your plantation just received notice of enemy contact up ahead and your squad is dispatched to handle them. The start of the song is what plays when you guys are racing to intercept the targets. 3:00 Ambush - Sounds like you were trying to fight off a small hoard of weak Conrad-class Klaxosaurs. You start to sense that something is wrong... Suddenly you were ambushed from beneath by a many Klaxosaurs and they are quickly heading towards your plantation. Your squad is surrounded and are back to back, fighting them. You give a valiant fight and manage to kill many but your squad is slowly being wiped out. Your attempts are futile and you are crushed at the end. 5:42 Memories - Sounds like buzzes and crackles in your head trying to regain past memories after they were mysteriously removed in a lab. 7:26 Goliath - Sounds like you and a few other squads are dispatched to a location where a Super Lehmann-class Klaxosaur was last seen. It appears in front of you and you all are astonished by the size of it. It is a terrifying beast and is starting to wipe out all the other squads around you. You soon realize you are not the main character. You try to retreat but are crushed by it at the end :) 9:22 Pursuit - Sounds like your squad are racing on ground towards the threat off to the distance. The beat drop is when you are back to back with your squad, fighting like crazy. You finish off that wave and then you race to the next. 12:22 Fleet - Sounds like a huge group of plantations are traveling together toward a destination. 15:07 Vanquish - I'm not even gonna change this one. It is my personal favorite. In the beginning of the song, it is Zero Two's thoughts of being alone, miserable, and contemplating life. The choir kicks in when she is touched by a memory that gives her hope. When the beat drops, she instantly snaps into stampede mode and destroys everything around her in a heap of rage. Her comrades are staring with fear as she mauls an entire army of Klaxosaurs. I can't describe such beauty of a song when I hear it. Its just an masterpiece in my opinion. 17:41 Victory - Sounds like the aftermath a long and grueling fight. It is like after an intense fight you have defeated all the enemies and remain alive with joy and hope. 20:42 To The Ends Together - My second favorite masterpiece. Sounds like Strelizia is racing into battle thrusting her spear into all the enemies around her. Squad 13 is right behind her and together Hiro and Zero Two are locked in and intensely flies at supersonic speeds while decimating hundreds of enemies. Hiro and Zero Two are willing to die for one another and they are have a death defying bond together. Edit: These are not their original names. But I basically timestamped all of the songs for you guys! Enjoy. In my opinion, this anime has one of the most diverse and best sound tracks out of any other anime. You can feel free to disagree with me. This anime literally has 6 different ending songs in a 24 episode season. All the array of sounds and music connect well with what is going on in the scene. It brings everything alive. I would say this music is better than the animation itself, even when the animation is very good already. The collaboration of strings, guitar, piano, brass, and drum instruments really play a role in making the atmosphere feel alive. There are also more sound tracks out there, 3 CDs in TOTAL which rounds to more than 2 hours of sound tracks. It is an amazing song. All of the music are composed by Asami Tachibana. She is a brilliant composer and puts a lot of effort in her field.

I'm glad to see someone typed out a bunch of sentences about how good the entire OST is. I honestly think Darling in the FranXX might have the greatest OST of all time. Its use of synthetic pads in "Trente" really captures the dystopian, artificial atmosphere within the Plantations, "Aile" does the same but within Mistilteinn. "CODE:002" and "Odds and Ends" voice the isolation of the characters and Zero Two in specific. "Operation" is an excellent military-themed track and "Reversal" puts a slightly more optimistic spin on it. "VICTORIA" is honestly just pure joy, it's the most triumphant sounding piece of music I've ever heard. "JUSTICE" puts a more dutiful and purposeful spin on it, but I can't remember it being used in the anime which is a shame. "RoCco" was also incredibly underused and was one of the most feel-good tracks in the OST. I've *never* heard anyone talk about it or "GLADIOLUS" and I think they were the two hidden gems on the OST. "Hiro and Zero Two" describes the vulnerability and beauty of love. "Pray For..." tells us what that love looks like to the rest of Squad 13. The greatness of "Vanquish", the OP, and the EDs goes without saying. Oh, and Ichigo's theme is also super slept on, it's kind of a more cheerful variant of "Vita". Really, almost every track in this OST is slept on. Like, I love Sawano's work and I think Aldnoah.Zero and Blue Exorcist had incredible music, but I think Darling in the FranXX's OST in its entire body of work is better than any other because of what you said: diversity in instruments, atmosphere, etc. Tachibana had a much more difficult task when making this than most other composers, because DitF takes place in so many environments by design, and has to take on so many moods because the whole story is about communication, emotion, and trust. Most anime take place in a static universe, and all the tracks can have a similar atmosphere and utilize the same instruments because while the mood changes, the setting doesn't. DitF constantly switches back and forth between a synthetic, futuristic metropolis and a lush, natural environment from centuries past--not to mention the environment inside the FranXX themselves, out on the battlefield, and themes revolving around the Klaxosaurs. It's just really impressive how many moods and settings are communicated in this OST and I don't think many composers have had to consider as many dimensions in their music as Tachibana had to for Darling in the FranXX. Examples: Violet Evergarden has another one of my favorite soundtracks, but it takes place entirely within a Victorian-era environment, so it can get away with using the same instruments throughout the whole album. The moods are obviously very diverse, but the environment is static. Your Lie in April has a fairly constrained set of moods and environments, it's mostly an angsty/introspective anime and doesn't have to capture as wide a range of themes. Aldnoah.Zero takes place almost entirely in space and usually in a military environment, again only one type of environment for the majority of the show.

I finnished the anime two weeks ago. I am still sad about the ending... it's such a shame that they have chosen that ending. I really loved the show and i would love to see some more "happy" moments of the squad. Especially when Vanquish played was i was feeling so amazed and happy with the story. Just a shame how everything ended D:
