There are plenty of nurses. However, there are NOT plenty of jobs. Hospitals won't hire. Four year RNs are just too expensive. Why hire a nurse when you can "get by" with a nursing assistant? And keep them all part time. Most administrators don't give a damn about turnover rates. The hospital I used to work for let go of a burse manager when she publicized the facts. She was fired for insubordination after having been ordered to keep her mouth shut. I believe she landed a faculty position somewhere.

As a former nurse I can tell you there are PLENTY of nurses out there and there is NO nursing shortage. There is a shortage of people willing to stay in nursing due to the way nurses are treated. Hospital administration and the public views nurses as servants. 1 in 3 new grads leaves nursing in their first year. 1 in 2 by the second. I took more verbal abuse as a nurse than I did in the army

Maybe if you paid more, you’d have more nurses there. My daughter paid $150,000 for her nursing program and would love to move there, but the salary won’t be enough to pay back her loan and also cover living expenses right now.
