Thank you. That’s an excellent explanation and demonstration. I just bought an F-150 Tremor with Pro Power Onboard (2K) and have been curious about what using 2000 watts of power looks like.
@FullyowneddАй бұрын
The 400 watt inverter is a completely isolated unit from the 2.0kw. It comes standard on trucks even without pro power onboard. It runs off of the trucks 12V under the hood battery. Rear pro power 2.0kw is solely using the 24V secondary alternator.
@TheSASurvivalАй бұрын
@@Fullyownedd With the ltd info out there, I would to say they are 2 totally different systems. Prior to my 2022 with PPoB, i had the 400 watts system and it had a small inverter under the right rear seat, as known, it does not run very much. The 2KW when ordered only comes with 1 inverter at a max of 20amps, much larger and under the left rear seat, the advantage of the 2KW system is that you can turn on the generator mode to increase the output. Now when you say “rear”pro power, i can run higher output devices from all the outlets, not just the bed outlets, but it senses the higher load and asks me to turn on Generator mode. The inverter then uses the 2nd alternator and the 2 12v (24v) batts under the seat as you said. My understanding is that depending on the load, there is an internal switching between the 2 modes that is in the inverter. But i have not been able to find a wiring diagram to prove this.

Now 2 years later, how did you find towing with a 1/2 ton pickup?
@TheSASurvival3 ай бұрын
@@dustin9537 It works well, this year we actually towed longer routes and got more comfy with it. The big thing we notice is the bounce between the trailer and the back of the truck when going over rolling bumps or undulating road but we learnt to slow down quite a bit when we see them. Other than that we like the combination a lot, saying that would we upgrade to a 25-3500 yes I think we would but not for a couple more years.

@TheSASurvival Thank you for the quick reply. I was contemplating this trailer w/ my half ton, but I think I'll go 3/4 instead since we usually have stuff in the box and back seat that would put us near max payload. Great videos BTW!

I think I'll come see you when the time comes to install my batteries. I pay cash! Lol. Also, why not carry a generator on board to recharge the batteries?
@TheSASurvival Жыл бұрын
Not a fan of generators, fuel too much noise etc… this being said we have 1 but really never use it, i understand cost over functionality but there is something about using free energy ( not the cost to get it mind) but prices are coming down. From Apr-Oct when the trailer is parked, the fridge is on 24/7, even in the driveway or camping and we never plug in and everything is fully charged all the time, might take an extra day if we have a wet/overcast day but i have been surprised how long the batteries last. Longest was a week ( as we used our small trailer for our main vacation) in semi shade and we left to go home with 60% left in the batteries. Super happy.

Correction to your video; the outlets turning on automatically with the truck is NOT using the generator mode alternator. It's using the regular alternator, that's why it shows starting up only in 400 watt mode. Also, just a little nit-noid thing but modern power is 120v or 240v, not 110v/220v for phraseology.
@TheSASurvival Жыл бұрын
I would agree on both points., just so used to using 240v English and 110v.
@brentfitzgibbon Жыл бұрын
First video I’ve seen with the inverter and inverter batteries shown uncovered - thank you! You seem to be using a lot of 120V devices, but for 12V devices like the powered cooler, ham radios, etc that would ride in the truck or bed I wonder if tapping those rear seat AGM batteries would be a good source. Theoretically it would be isolated power with its own alternator
@TheSASurvival Жыл бұрын
The radio i guess i could have done that, i just went into auto mode and powered them as i always had, but yes i never thought about the 2 rear batteries wired in series, i could have used 1 of them for the radio, the fridge needs power 24/7 when we are traveling and i do not know how long they would last as they are quite small, hence the use of the additional 140Amp Lithium batteries being charged by the 110 onboard sys. The 110 devices are more because we can because of the 2KW sys on this 2022 otherwise i would not normally, but it seems endless now other than space, air fryer, microwave, ice maker (which we are going to try on this years trip). Thanks for your comments.

@@TheSASurvival I have a ‘22 Tremor with the 2kW system and have been thinking through these same use cases. My portable fridge will take 12V, 24V, or 120v with a wall brick. 120V worked just fine like you said on our last road trip, but learning that I have a 2nd alternator putting out 24v gets the ideas flowing… Agree with you though, the batteries look small and probably wouldn’t last more than an hour or so. And who knows what Ford software alerts we’d deal with if those batteries aren’t happy at ignition.
@TheSASurvival Жыл бұрын
Exactly, i leave it running on the 12v and run a battery charger to the batts to charge when driving, i was switch from 110 to 12 but often i would forget when i stopped and it became a pain, so just stuck with 12v, better to have cold food.

Hi, great idea & video. Question: is the structure a square or did you have to go with a trapeze shape to make the crossbar fold back on itself? Are the two arms rage same length?
@TheSASurvival Жыл бұрын
It is just off of a square, the arms that attach to the trailer all the same size and the one in front is slightly longer, this just gives us lots of room to be able to have a shower without being entangled with them tarp, I cut the U bracket in a shape that it enables it to push over itself to be folded. It’s kind of hard to explain and it doesn’t show very well in the video but that’s what creates that shape when you push it to one side, push one of the arms inwards and then bring the other side back over itself. I hope that makes sense.
@kamranharandy3738 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. I’ve really been struggling to get the arms to fold back onto themselves, as the crossbar seems to want to push back when at the near 180 degrees angle & before the arms can turn back onto themselves. Trial & error is the process it seems!

We have the 10.7 cu ft baby brother of your Furrion fridge. So far it has been somewhat of a mystery to figure out how to set the thermostat for consistent performance. Either we have a thermostat failure, design issue, or some other anomaly we haven't figured out yet. In a month we leave the RV park in FL so I will have our two BB batteries installed in our Imagine TT and also hope to have our Renergy 20-amp DC-DC charger installed in the truck for real amperage coming from the truck. So far we like it all, but we have to take it all back to the dealer to replace the skylight that the technician broke when he stepped on the skylight. Cheers, Davey & Sheila
