You have aiming problems in FAOFF because you have incorrectly bounded controls. The mouse should have Pitch and Yaw axes, and the Roll axis should be on the keyboard. Because Roll is the least necessary function in FAOFF. Since you were using the wrong settings initially, it will now take some time to get used to the correct ones. Good luck, CMDR!
@aitoluxd6 күн бұрын
I appreciate that CMDR, but tbh I just have a major case of 'skill issue' lol. Pitch and yaw axes are bound to the mouse. I have to unlearn bad habits like rolling and relearn how to properly fly in combat.

@@aitoluxd Retraining is the hardest part of this game ;) Use lateral thrusters. Keep the speed in the blue sector. Try to maneuver without using afterburner. Use afterburner only for shortening a very large distance, or to quickly get out from under attack. When getting out from under attack, it is useful to use chaffs. P.S. When using afterburner, you can hold down any thrusters (also in any combinations) - their thrust will also increase significantly. Thus, on maneuverable ships, you can turn 180 degrees almost instantly. In FAON mode, such maneuvers are not available.

As Ken said … "gravity of the situation" … good one! 😂 I love how quickly it goes wrong, one second you’re driving along under control and then one spin and suddenly you're in free fall with that wonderful high pitched falling sound in the background. Did you see the speed climbing rapidly, you were going over 200m/s on that final bounce. Really loving this series! By the way, I can tell you have a really good instinct for throttle control in the SRV (i.e. when to back off) … I hope you’ll give SRV racing a go one day.

Nice Job! I'm glad to see that you're still "true-blue" FA-OFF. It only gets better from here. If I may add an objective observation? Your flying is smooth. That's an amazing foundation to build upon. When I'm in combat, I try to minimize rotational axis to aim and use the lats/verts mostly for aiming, when possible. It's just a principle that encourages flying and "steering" the ship with the thrusters and can make aiming less twitchy, which is a great thing for fixed weapons. It's simply a conceptual tool that won't even be needed later on when it becomes automatic/second nature. I have a feeling that you know all of that, but I enjoy the conversation. Loving the videos! O7 Cmdr

Your advice is truly invaluable to me, I truly appreciate that. I attempted (in my other video - new beginnings) what you mentioned and combat actually became slightly easier. Although I still need to work on keeping my reticle on targets, and like you said, it should get better from here. Again, thanks so much.

@@aitoluxd That’s awesome! I’ve found that the easiest way to train for combat is outside of combat. There’s nothing wrong with going to a res site to simply “follow” the ships without the stress of combat. That provides amazing skills and really helps with range control. As far as the recticle is concerned, it might be easier to move the ship to the reticle instead of move the recticle to the ship. Thrusters do the first one. Yaw, pitch, roll do the second one. O7

I for one think you should stick with whatever you're comfortable with or can afford. You can fly fa off with hotas, hosas, controller or even mouse and keyboard. It just takes practice and commitment. The good folks at Newton's Gambit are particularly very helpful. Trust me I'm still struggling and I wish I had half some of their flying skills too. Here's the discord link for the group discord.gg/veB4XqHm You should also watch some fa off tutorials they can set you on the right path as well.

Hi there, I almost thought you were Iso with a new channel, then I saw the gimballed weapons and knew you're not him. Still I liked! and subscribed! yeah that Python face tanked you. Small ships can't face tank Pythons. You have to take advantage of the fact that you are more agile in the cobra, and that the python turns like it's on rails. I like pre turning and boosting with my viper and catching pythons when they are perpendicular to me...such a big target to hit. o7

a little advice: learn to use your lateral thrusters instead of fighting to keep the nose of the ship on target. Bring the target/reticle to the center of your screen by using the thrusters. This avoids overcorrecting with the rotational axes. Also, boost bleeding and gear boosting. Search on YT what it is and how it's done. o7
Indeed. It almost ended horribly for me back there as well 😂
