If I already admired and loved him to the core, now those feelings have multiplied. He was really a very brave man who suffered a lot, but was a great examples for many of us. He even decided (it´s not in the Canon) to show in the Devil´s Foot that Holmes quitted cocaine to inspire people. He was in and out of the screen one of the best human beings ever. May his soul rest in peace and continue to be remembered by many upcoming generations.

Thank you. You published this on my birthday ten years ago. It was recorded, apparently, 12 days before he died, He died 17 days after my husband (who was only 43). Serendipity. Jeremy Brett was ,for me, not only a great actor but the ONLY Sherlock Holmes I can watch. And, to think he was terrified of the challenge of playing that part. Lovely man.

He was the best Sherlock Holmes as well as a wonderful actor. I was very depressed when my mum died. I was 14. I don't wish anyone to have a problem like this. I was able to overcome it myself but it took me a long time.

I discovered the Jeremy Brett adaptation of Sherlock Holmes a few years ago and loved it. The two actors that played Watson were very good, right down to Watson crying at Reichenbach when he thought he'd lost Holmes.

I‘m not suffering from bipolar disorder (as it is called today), but I’m suffering from a slight form of Quiet BPD which is similar at some points. It also includes depression where I feel quite empty and without energy. Although the suicidal rate may be higher for bipolar disorder. I find it also very brave that Jeremy Brett spoke out about his disease, and he should be highly respected for that. I did the same as him for some time, but unfortunately I told it the wrong actor who had misused it publicly against me later in a smear campaign when I found out that he was a narcissist who abused his fans financially and when I started to warn about him. Smear campaigns of narcissists can become very ugly, especially if they have enough flying monkeys and if it is public. His abuse went that far that several fans had reported him to the police, including me. I believe that one fan also committed suicide because of his smear campaign. I wasn’t the first (now ex-fan) who found out about his financial abuse. He tried to destroy so many lives of his fans, some have or had immense debts because of him. And he prefers to collect fans with mental diseases around him who he can easily manipulate to get their money, so that he can declare them as crazy later in case they complain about that financial abuse later which makes it even worse. In fact, it is known meanwhile that he collects an unusual amount of fans with mental diseases around him. And it is even scarier that he searches for intense contact with such fans, by having chats with them for hours (including video calls, phone calls, meeting him at film sets and other locations in person). I also had a personal dinner with him once where I (unfortunately) told him about my disease. He loves it to use his fans against each other, he wrote black on white that he enjoys jealousy fights between his fans. He had destroyed his own career, his fanbase. He also had financially abused his business partners (there are enough proofs), he cannot travel back to America because of his debts and because he is blacklisted at some productions, and he has to hide in Paris now. Don’t worry, it was neither Jeremy Brett of some Star Trek actor I’m talking about. It is some other actor. I consider Jeremy Brett and also Brent Spiner as very sincere/honest/genuine persons. Since that experience I’m just not sure anymore if I would be that brave to tell everyone about my disorder. It’s easier for me to tell via some anonymous profile. I admire Jeremy Brett for that he did. He should be highly respected for that. There are enough people in the world who don’t know much about specific mental diseases and who make fun of it because they don’t understand it or who even misuse that information. As I told, I‘m a Quiet Borderliner by myself. Especially if it is some disease that others cannot see from the outside. We should stick together instead of fighting each other. Thank you Jeremy Brett! Thank you for your great role as Sherlock Holmes! I wish he was still alive. You were a precious personality. You will never be forgotten! Sorry for my bad grammar, but I’m not a native English speaker. My German language skills are far better. ;-)

I adore Jeremy Brett. I only know him from the Granada 'Sherlock Holmes' adventures. Every adventure is a masterpiece, and Jeremy is why. Man do I wish there more of those adventures. Think how many TVs would be tuned to the same channel if somehow an unknow lost adventure with Jeremy was discovered and premiered. It could be the greatest event in TV history. Maybe someday they will have a perfect computer generated Jeremy to make new Holmes adventures with. I just looked it up and there are 19 Holmes stories by Doyle that Granada didn't produce. It would be so great to see them with a CGI Jeremy Holmes. I don't care if that sounds cheesy, I would be in ecstasy. It would be a miracle. Manic depression sounds nasty. I knew 2 people who supposedly had it. They didn't tell me they had it. It was someone close to them that told me. I have no reason to doubt the people who told me. They must have not had it bad because they seemed normal enough to me. They both drank a lot of beer, but I kept up with them in that respect. They were both carpenters too. I miss Jeremy. It was an event at my parents house when a new Holmes adventure was premiering on PBS. Jeremy made for some good times in our lives. Popcorn, ice cream, Holmes parties. We really did enjoy him that much. And the Dr. Watsons did a great job too. And I loved Le Strade, the way he talked. And I wish Mrs. Hudson was my land lady. All such wonderful characters. RIP Jeremy Brett. He's a legend in many minds, rightfully.

People are like IN THOSE DAYS PEOPLE WERE TOUGHER AND DIDNT HAVE ALL THESE MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES UNLIKE ALL THESE WHINY ENTITLED MILLENIALS AND IN THOSE DAYS MEN WERE REAL MEN AND WOULD MAN UP AND NEVER CRY OR LET THEIR EMOTIONS GET IN THE WAY! And here we have Jeremy being so beautifully open and vulnerable about his struggles with mental health, and he was also bisexual so bleeeuuughhh to those people.

What an amazing person and actor, Jeremy was! Here in the states, I am not the kind of person whom follows Hollywood and all that poubelle... But British TV is ace. And would I *ever* have and hang a photograph on my walls of an actor: right next to Dame Patricia Routledge, would be Jeremy. Jeremy Brett and the whole team at Granada, they helped me through a dark time, when I lost internet and then had-to go to a friend's, to download the series from the Archive site... 1-2 episodes a week; I'd watch them over an over. I have too much to say, to say it all.

I so wish I could get my brother to listen to this message. He is bipolar manic with psychotic features. He has no insight into the illness and therefore will not seek treatment and actively avoids any intervention. I fear he will end up injured or killed. I quite understand mental illness as I worked as a psychiatric nurse for 13 years. There is really very little one can do until they commit a crime

sitting here in the midst of a low after a grand hyperactive maniac phase, listening to this wonderful gentleman, that jeremy was, is giving a wee bit of comfort. i never knew he was suffering from it, i just loved him for his great acting and from time to time when i was falling into my soulgrinding lows again, i loved to come back to the granada sherlock movies. sometimes life is sending you glimpses of hope, where you might not expect it from. thanks for uploading this!
