It's crazy how little role playing is in this role playing game. You don't make choices, you can't affect the story, player skill and expression is not rewarded, you can't even choose your own attacks in combat!

Well, speaking of lesser known jojo game. I guess "Diavolo no daibouken" is definitely underrated. Its a japanese rougelike with mystery dungeon style system starring diavolo,while having many kinds of stand disc as equipments and other items in the series. Unfortunately,theres no english translation of it. If you wanna check it out the newest version is 0.16-12. You can find the game by searching "ディアボロの大冒険0.16-12 the run". And dont worry, you will die a lot in this.

Interesting detail I just noticed after like half a dozen playthroughs: When an Angel is about to self-destruct, its health bar gradually goes from empty to max, because it's using the last of its energy to blow itself up.
@SuperFeatherYoshiКүн бұрын
Also, if you beat Sachiel without going berserk or losing the umbilical cable, neutralize his AT Field, and finish him with a running attack, he'll envelop Unit 1 in a ball before self-destructing like in the anime.

Of all the details in this game, DIO personally hand writing a letter and putting the key to it on one of his lackeys, just to talk shit, is impressively petty of him. Bravo.

Oh, that Biorhythm thingy. It's a thing that eastern asian religions believe in; that you're better during certain times of day and certain seasons as a way of explaining why people are moody. To make a long story short, left of the middle is *what it was* and the right is your projection of *what it will be at* later; above the bar is "good" but it also drops down equally in magnitude before taking the same time to flip again (hence why it's a rhythm.) while it allows people to time important things so they're at their peak. Keep in mind these same people believe *rearranging your furniture based off colour and compass directions* gives them "more energy" so to me it's all hokey nonsense.

A JoJo RPG wouldn't make a lot of sense for us on this side of the world, but at that time RPGs were HUGE in Japan. GTA-level huge in the case of some like Dragon Quest. There were RPGs about anything and everything, all following very similar formulas, which Japan loved. SNES received several RPG releases per year. There were many RPGs of shonen fighting manga such as Dragon Ball in the famicom and super famicom, and for other things like sentai as well.

Really fun stuff. I started mid 2024 a personal challenge to beat every RPG released on the SNES, and this game was my most recent pick (game n° 7/230+) and have finished playing it just a couple of weeks ago, so i was very surprised finding this video on my homepage today. I'm of your same opinion about it, as I found it kinda easy (barring the DIO and Vanilla Ice fights) and not that much deep in mechanics and story (the story works just fine with all the changes they made to the manga's plot, but the uniqueness of JoJo kinda isn't there anymore..), but what I enjoyed the most out of it was the SOUNDTRACK. All the battle's, the intro and the Japan's exploration themes were super catchy and never felt bored about them. If I had to rate it I'd give it a 5/10 baded on my experience.

If you struggled your way through this game, then yeah, I 100% suggest giving 7th Stand User a shot. It's really good! It's suggested to just use whatever stand the game gives you at the start and play the first playthrough blind. It's got a lot of new game + features, so you won't really be missing out on anything for the most part.

Level 16 is the cap for grinding - you cant go above that. I wouldnt have been able to tolerate grinding at the vampire hallucination bar without setting the game to turbo speed during that process, but it makes the last fights bearable

Man, I love the idea of a JoJo game where there's a focus on mindgames and the mental conditions that affect your stand. Too bad those systems are so limited because It's not like you can use Kakyoin to select "TRAP" to lay traps for Gray Fly for an instant kill or anything like that.
@TephraDan6 күн бұрын
@@mengo329 I think that would have been the ideal way to do it and this game does like 1% of that with the Idea system. With how more recent Jojo stands have much more unique powers, a more puzzle orientated RPG game would be great
@EddieSpaghetti694 күн бұрын
You could use Tecmo's Deception and Deception 2 as a core concept and do a spinoff; instead of "attacking" you'd prepare stands as traps to do combination attacks that give the player creative control over how to deal with opponents.

I am surprised that this is the only JoJo jrpg. Jrpg - perfect genre to show stand's unique abilities and winning battle by using them in creative way (like most battles in JoJo). In other genres 99% stand abilities are just "deal X damage with Y animation". Image modern JoJo jrpg with complex battle system that include: -weakness/resistance system -various buff/debuff effects -positioning system (example, close-range stand can't attack enemies in back lines (but that stand can have long-range ability, like Star Platinum's "Star finger"), some stands can have AOE abilities, some stands can even friendly-fire)

@@TephraDanJust a little tip: use the wiki walkthrough, the game is legitimately good despite being quite difficult even on normal difficulty, but there are A LOT of events that happen on each map, they can be small character interactions, events exclusive to your stand or gender, optional bosses and even side quests that give special items or different endings, I consider these events one of the most fun parts of the game but it is extremely difficult to find these events in a blind playthrough because the game never indicates that they are there or how you can unlock them if you don't end up running into them by luck or using the wiki walkthrough to find out where they are.
@likky17 күн бұрын
i think what i want to say is that the game is going for presentation over gameplay cause the presentation is pretty darn good, it may not be perfect or great but i say its darn good for the time trying to represent the manga as close as possible also this is less a jrpg but a point and click adventure game with a combat system since it follows a lot of that formula
@TephraDan7 күн бұрын
I agree it’s more of a point and click adventure because compared to the amazing RPGs that came out during the SNES era it’s lacking in most departments. Being shorter than the anime and honestly without knowledge of the original story, it would be difficult to tell what’s going on even. The concept and ideas being so interesting, I just wish it had a bit more time in the oven
