Kaiji is easily my favorite anime. I desperately wish more of Fukomoto’s work would get an adaptation. Fuck that ps1 Kaiji game sounds right up my alley I really hope it gets a translation or something. Fantastic video man!

Couple things I want to mention since making this video as the PS1 Kaiji game lives rent free in my mind: I was able to extract and watch the FMVs cutscenes from the disc and there is definitely still more to see there. There were several cutscenes featuring the woman in red, some more visual metaphor sequences, and even cutscenes that briefly feature Kaiji himself. One of the cutscenes featured what looked like a four-way match which seemingly included Kaiji and Funai all playing Rock. I also skipped the personality quiz section in most my playthroughs but I do think that there is more importance to it for seeing different paths as there were more FMVs that transitioned from the sound question to different items you can pick. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much more to see in terms of the endings so it's really mainly about finding the different paths in the main game. Also The developers of the PS1 Kaiji game, ComputerSoftwareWill, is actually a company that's been around since 1988 and is today called Will Co., Ltd. They still make games to this day and even codeveloped several games with Nintendo.
