The huge thing about this which *some* people don't realise is it allows full undo/redo of ALL plugin parameters, and unlike Cubase 13, that includes instruments. In the undo history each parameter will actually be named as well. Before anyone says anything, this is precisely how any DAW that has plugin undo works, by using the automation system that exposes the plugin parameters. It's just that in PT you need to powerclaw and left click on the little automation box which will turn on all parameters for an insert, and then Bob's your uncle. Full undo/redo of any plugin tweaks. You can turn it off as easily as you turn it on, and even if you always have all parameters automation ready, there's a setting in preferences to remove plugin parameters from the undo history if you don't want them there. Best of all worlds! As usual, with the wonderful PT.

Is there anyway to just set ProTools so that every time you record over the same track it creates a new playlist automatically like logic cubase studio one etc.? I’ve never understood why you have to manually create a new playlist when you’re recording on your own it just seems an unnecessary step

All the tricks?
@ProMediaTraining5 ай бұрын
Rick Clifford is a funny guy... Iconic mixing engineer, was even Chief Engineer at Conway Studios in LA for 20 years , and also Death Row Records Chief Engineer. What he meant by that is shortcuts for Dolby Atmos mixing. He's referring to the "tricks" professional audio engineers use to speed up their workflow. When you get into complicated areas of Dolby Atmos mixing and you are working with major label artists, many find it faster to go through like a hardcore Dolby Atmos mixing class than waste time sorting through things and reading manuals. ProMedia Training is official Pro tools Certification for the professional music and post production industry, and speed and efficiency is the #1 reason many of them attend these classes. (Similar to why a full-time IT professional attends an advanced Microsoft Certification class). Everyone is trying to keep up with technological changes.

Main hindrance for me to use protools is the high prices of their software and hardwares
@ProMediaTraining5 ай бұрын
Totally understand!! and everything in life has become terribly expensive!!! We ALL feel it... ...but on a better note, a month of Pro Tools is WAY CHEAPER THAN AN HOUR OF STUDIO TIME. Even a simple monthly license to Adobe Photoshop is way more than that. The public does not consider this, but Pro tools is not always meant to serve the same purpose as other DAWS. It's an audio engineering platform that has music production capabilities. This is the same software used to mix a $100M motion picture with a full orchestra and explosions and sound effects, and mix Dolby Atmos movies with dozens of engineers working on Avid networks; you can't do this on other DAWS the same way , and if you go back even 15 years, you'd have to spend about $20,000 more to do what it can do for a few hundred dollars. So yes, it is unfortunately more than some of the other DAWS, but what you can do with it is significantly more. And that is why it's more expensive. The software development for it is WAY more difficult and more intense. All of us here know multi- DAWS and can use Multi-DAWS...Eri Kuehnl actually authors the top-selling textbooks for Ableton too, who teaches here. ERIC also owns a Certified Ableton Training center..... But if you ask that Professor (he is University level Professor), what DAW he's got in his studio for mixing, it's Pro tools. ( and he writes the popular Ableton textbooks that you see all over online and in bookstores). And there are scientific reasons Pro tools is used in the major studios that is outside the scope of price. There are over 3,000 pages combined in the Pro Tools Manuals. It gets pretty intense and incredibly complicated, and that is why even high level professional engineers with Grammy awards working in top studios still come through these classes like Dolby Atmos mixing here. We had five Grammy winning engineers in the past few months attending. Even many of the top producers using Ableton and Logic for major artists will often tell you the production gets dumped into Pro tools often before vocal and mixing occurs. Hopefully that gives a little more reason why the pries are a bit more.

Is there a way to find where the clip is pointing to on the hard drive? In the clips, I can right click and find in finder, but I can't seem to do that for video.
@ProMediaTraining7 ай бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. What version of Pro Tools are you using? In the current version (2024.3.1) you can right-click on the video file in the Clip List to "reveal in finder" - this will open the finder location with the video file. We don't have an older version of Pro Tools to test this with.

@@icontentacademy It sounds like you’re “hiding” the video clips. Go to the Clips menu, go to “Show”, make sure Video is selected. You can also shortcut it by using “Shift + Command + 3”

A couple years late here! Would you have to make a composite playlist in order to copy and paste selections from other playlists, or could you choose a playlist you like 90% of the take and copy other parts of other playlists to that one?
