The bunkers remind me of the many “pill boxes” I saw around the Wirral after the war. Love your sense of humour!😀 Typical English!😃 Is this your first visit to Spain? Much praise for your filming. Always feels natural, comfortable.

Been here 2-3 times , We are going here today again as my daughter has just gone to Chester university, and is staying in the student accommodation opposite. We are going to try the food, been in there a couple of times for a pint and last month when we dropped her off and then visited and it seemed good. It’s really nice on the canal there, and if you are a student it’s a short walk on the road or on the canal back to the student digs from campus. (5-10 mins)

I always feel very moved and in awe when seeing the interiors of the small village churches. The sense of being part of history, the generations past who attended here. They’re all beautiful, the colours from the windows, the lovingly polished wood and amazing stone carvings. Thanks for posting this!

Used to be all beautiful golden dunes down there, until they began messing with the sand retaining 'defences' and started to install sea front roads. Talking up to around WW2 era sortve time. Who remembers the active pier, then the Golden Goose?

@@harryrambler Thankyou! Everything has changed so much since the 50s, and when I saw your video of the old aircraft, I wondered if it was associated with the old Sealand air base, where I think American forces were. On travels to North Wales from the Wirral , there was always long traffic bottleneck delays at a roundabout at Queensferry, dividing the Flint coast road from St Asaph rd. Driving west, Sealand was signed on the left, just before crossing the Dee. Didn’t know, back then , but some of my dad’s family history is scattered in Ewloe, Hawarden and St Asaph.

That looks like a really nice retirement area with easy walking, places to just sit and enjoy the birds. Too bad the view has to have the wind towers. Still beautiful ocean views though. Love watching shipping too, guessing (“Ooh, where in the world did that one come from?”) used to like reading the nightly shipping news in the Liverpool Echo. In my day the Mersey was full of ships from the far corners of the earth. Wouldn’t mind one of those Burbo Point condos, if that’s what they are😁 Thanks for another good visit, Rambler! from Vancouver Island.

Hill Bark (also known as Bidston Court) is a large country house to the south of the hamlet of Frankby, Wirral, Merseyside, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.[1] The authors of the Buildings of England series comment that it is "one of the most notable Victorian essays in half-timbered design anywhere in the country".[2] History The house was originally built in 1891 for the soap manufacturer Robert William Hudson on Bidston Hill, Birkenhead.[3] It was designed by the Liverpool architectural firm of George Enoch Grayson and Edward A. L. Ould (probably by Ould), and was then known as Bidston Court.[2] It was the home of John Laird, Chairman of Laird Brothers Shipbuilders of Birkenhead (later Cammel Laird) until approximately 1910. In 1921 the house was later sold to Sir Ernest Royden, and he arranged for the house to be dismantled and rebuilt on the present site, at Royden Park, between 1928 and 1931.[3] This work was supervised by the architectural firm of Rees and Holt.[2] In 2001 the house was being used as an old people's home,[1] and later in the 2000s it was converted into a hotel.[4]

@@nestahale8510 You got the history of the relocation of the house. This is the original location before it was moved brick by brick. I will check and film it at Royden Park sometime.😊

@@harryrambler sorry I didn’t make it clear that you were at the original position of the estate known as Bidston Court which was later known as Hilbark. Interesting history! Amazing that such a large building was moved brick by brick. A search under ‘Bidston Hill” gives a lot of information about the landowners over the ages , including a Robert Vyner, one of the makers of Crown Jewels, and William Laird of Cammell Lairds shipbuilding.
