Gosh leeds is so different now, it has a very big city feel with tall skyscraper buildings and a major financial sector to it, currently dozens of cranes up constructing new talls

Outstanding. What a joy it was to see that number 11 bus at Fulham Broadway in 1977. I lived not far from there, went to primary school a short distance from there, watched Chelsea FC around the corner from there and took the 11 bus to Sloane Square to attend secondary school. Life has not turned out as I envisioned in 1977. Then, the year 2000 was 23 years away, an eternity. Now the year 2000 is 24 years in the past a real eternity. Back then life was a real adventure; today time flies and is more mundane with the cost of everything a great burden. This though is a real exception, such pleasurable memories for pennies. Many thanks.

It seems from the comments Leeds looks largely different but it should be remembered it wasn't all that long ago and not much changes

No road works. No building sites. No diverted buses. No roads closed. Normal City life

The City centre has been destroyed by successive Councils since these photos were taken, nobody goes there anymore to do their shopping, there are no shops left just Coffee shops charity shops take aways and bookies, bus lanes and bicycle lanes no cars allowed cameras everywhere to fine you, the market is a shadow of it's former self and wont be there as a market much longer, probably be turned into Student Flats and Office space.

Here is a woman of dignity and grace, simply and elegantly. Today celebrity women strip down to practically nothing for a photo shoot. Marlo is one in a million.

I saw a panel for a Tijuana Bible with Casper the Friendly Ghost tapping Wendy the Good Little Witch when I was a little kid. I've looked for it as an adult and never been able to find it.

It wasn’t a Tijuana Bible. It was a cheap little saddle stapled book advertised in the back of Hustler magazine.

After my step grandfather who was a Pentecostal pastor died in the late Seventies we went through his old footlocker and found over a hundred Tijuana bibles.

The example here is not a Tijuana Bible. Looks more like a small paperback, and the art is from a later era than the Tijuana bibles. I am a collector of Tijuana bibles, with more than 20 of them. In all of them the art is much cruder than what is shown here. And they are all 8-pagers, like the poster mentions in his notes. You really need to see what Betty and Veronica do with Veronica's father out by the pool. And what Wimpy serves Olive Oyl...

"Most of these booklets were obscene parodies of popular newspaper comic strips, featuring explicit sexual escapades with well-known characters." Rule 34 applied even before anybody knew what Rule 34 was.

Thank the cosmos that I survived all that nasty munsingwear crap, my dad wore until the day he died four years ago. Men finally have underwear available that's comfortable, sometimes revealing, supportive and freeing from cotton to silk.

Thing is though, yes its changed but if i took you to some of these locations today, they look almost identical, the loss of the market being a market, and butchers and florist row in the last 20 years is pretty unfortunate, when I came to leeds in 2003 these were some of the areas I used the most to buy food etc because it was just better than the supermarket.

As a teenager I used to work for a couple of brothers owned a smoke shop on West 49th Street, right across the street from the Ambassador Theatre. One of them sent me up to the loft, above the store, and there were loads of old magazines and stuff. I found a large stash of Tijuana Bibles. I’d heard about them before, but never seen them before, so I swiped as many as I could.

I loved the clubs in Newport but I can't remember all the names. Scamps at the bottom of Stow Hill and the Stowaway further up on the right. One over by the Post Office, quite a big one. The Cwrt Bleddyn out at USK with the Helmaen just down the road. I know there's more. Then along came Disco which heralded the busy times for the clubs. Now I look back I find that the 70s was a while ago. Just remembered club name "Cinderellas".
