The CIA World Factbook (which is based on 2013 statistics) gives the following numbers for the languages spoken in Iran today: Persian, Luri, Gilaki and Mazandarani 66%; Azerbaijani and other Turkic languages 18%; Kurdish 10%; Arabic 2%; Baloch 2%; others 1% (Armenian, Georgian, Circassian, Assyrian, etc.).[21] Other sources, such as the Library of Congress, and the Encyclopedia of Islam(Leiden)[22] give Iran's ethnic groups as following: Persians 65%, Azerbaijanis 16%, Kurds 7%, Lurs 6%, Arabs 2%, Baloch 2%, Turkmens 1%, Turkic tribal groups (e.g. Qashqai) 1%, and non-Persian, non-Turkic groups (e.g. Armenians, Georgians, Assyrians, Circassians, Basseri ) less than 1%.[23] For sources prior to and after 2000, see Languages and ethnicities in Iran.

The internet is full of beginning level language courses! :(((( People begin to teach their language with great enthusiasm, they upload some videos with some basic information, and then they disappear. You are not an exception.

There are so many accents of persian and three standard form, if you want to study poetry you should learn phonology of early new persian, if you want to communicate persian speaking people you can learn any standard form you like, I recommend standard iranian persian (not tehrani dialect!)

Hi there, I believe more than 60-65% and not just 45% of Iranian are ethnic Persian and Persian speaking; I guess you do not consider Gilaki and Mazandarani as Persian dialects given that structurally and vocabulary wise they are nowadays totally Persianized

Yes correct. If you include Mazandarani, Gilaki and Lori its more around 80%.

Sure there are. To give you an example, in my hometown in Iran, we speak with an accent different from the 'standard' accent spoken in the capital. However it is completely understood by almost all the other Persian speakers. The differences almost resemble the differences between English accents within the UK.

Wrong. Persians are around 65-75% of Iran not 45%. Theyre the super majority.
