our band, the Mystics from Hardy, used to play this a lot....not quite as good as Travis did! Met Travis once here in Cherokee Village when he was up visiting his grandpa, who lived near Cherokee Lake in the Village.. This was back in the 70s and he was younger and had long dark hair. My cousin was a police man and we drove around patrolling one day and we stopped to talk to his grandfather....I think they called him Doc...and Travis was outside too and we shook hands with him. He was a great artist in the 60s when we were seniors in high school and really liked his far out sounds.

Ya know, Gimmer might have been a bank robber, or a deadbeat dad. If he was laying low, you just don't know. He might be enigmatic for a reason.

Phineas Newborn Jr was in my opinion one of several great pianist but to me one of 3 greatest jazz pianist of the 20th century, & people down the years have compared these 3 great music minds frequently time after time, their similar techniques & finger speed amongst other qualities, & that is of Art Tatum & Oscar Peterson. There were others but those other 2 stand out in my mind. His mind & stuff that he heard & did may have been the most genuis of the three in his prime. Anyone who followed & knew of his life's path milestones & struggles knew that in the prime of his life, his playing ability came across like something out of this world. His gift was definitely one of the "finest" GOD ever bestowed on a human being.

I was a pretty good guitarist in high school and college but didn't pursue it as a career. In my high school days when I was in local rock combos (1964-67), most of the groups I performed with played this song. I didn't hear it again until a year or two ago when I found Travis' mp3 version. I was worried that this song would disappear as we Boomers die off, but it will always be around...a little gem to be found and appreciated. Rock on sir.

It's my first time watching Joyce Coob singing live. Such a nice surprise. I only knew the tune "I did the gold" and now I listen to her singing the blues and playing the harmonica. It's so enjoyable. Thank you very much.

I have watched him play live probably 25 to 30 times and he can flat play that guitar 🎸 and sing!! He is one of the fastest guitarist I’ve ever seen play. And I wish there were more videos of him on KZbin.
