So Well done....Everything I've been trying to find out..I knew what I needed but didn't even know what the various items were called...of course, it's a THIRD HAND. Thank you so much for a well thought out, instructive, helpful video with minimal dialog! Would love to see a video on a simple set up for doing macro refraction water droplet images...

Great tutorial. The sliding mechanism that you have shown in your video, what is its product name? I am just an amateur.

A great vid for pointing starters in the rite direction. One thing that would help with the shallow depth of field that comes with macro lens photography is keeping your subject as flat as or parallel to the front lens element.

Hello, we are med peak and we make videos for medical marijuana patients on KZbin. What would be the best lens I can use in your opinion that would connect to my android note 8 for taking super close up clear pictures of cannabis. We don't have a huge budget come up but we desperately need to get super clear closeups. Love your video and the way you explain things, thank you

Sometimes doing it cheaply also means doing it wrong. Macro images should never be shot wide open and the goal is to ensure ALL of your subject is in focus, not just the small bit in the centre.
@bonniemarquette21275 жыл бұрын
Nina Kirienko Photography it depends on what you want. Photography is an art and what I like might not be what someone else wants. That’s the beauty of any art, it’s in the eye of the beholder and anything goes. Not everyone can afford thousands of dollars of equipment.
@davidrapant63985 жыл бұрын
🤣It’s whatever you want to have in focus. What does that have to do with doing it cheaply or not. I can shot wide open with expensive gear too. You can use focus to draw the eye to something of interest or use it in an artful way which she is doing here. If everyone did everything the “right” way it would be boring real quick.

Shooting wide open gives the best control of depth of field when focus stacking. Sometimes you want **a good portion** but not all of your subject in focus, then have the focus drop away quickly. Shooting wide open and then focus stacking is the best way to achieve that specific effect.

How far was the tip of your lens to the feather? I have a 100 mm tokina but I find that if I place it too close to the object then it is not sharp. I use a tripod.

Really liked your presentation. I sometimes add scarves draped over the backdrop or wrapping paper to get different colours. Very inexpensive. If I’m buying lights do you recommend The Neweer backlight or the Cowboy Studio stands with bulbs - and what strength of bulb? Thanks!
@bonniemarquette21276 жыл бұрын
Hey Elisabeth! If I could only buy 1 light at the moment, it would definitely be the LED light by Neweer or a similar brand. They're portable and dimmable. I use mine almost daily. If you do buy upright lights, make sure the bulb is daylight balanced for a more natural look. I'm in the process of putting together an online macro/closeup tabletop training course and will go over inexpensive lighting anyone can do. Watch for the intro video I'll be posting soon. I shot a few objects yesterday using the Neweer light and a simple set up, you can see one of the results here: bonniemarquette.smugmug.com/Clients-Products-and-Services/i-3WtJWzZ/A

what is the brand of mount you used to adjust your camerato move in & out and side to side?? I want to buy one but, I need the model and brand to order the correct one. "Thank you for any help you can give me", Jim PP.
@bonniemarquette21276 жыл бұрын
Hi James. Sorry it took so long to reply. I'm not sure of the brand, there's no name on it and actually I very rarely use it. When I'm shooting food, I prefer to handhold. When I'm doing tabletop and experimenting with lights, then I'll use my tripod but the macro lens is so sensitive, just moving my tripod slightly will change my DoF depending on my F-stop. ;)
