Too many, there are almost no good ones left 😂. Even standard ST185s are really hard to find especially with good interiors.

back in the day I imported lots of gt4s I still own 2, and have always thought they were under rated. They were so good as a rally car escort cosworths with a ford following are so much more, but as a car were rubbish and I dont think they ever beat the celica in competition as they were rallying the same time. UK is always slow on the uptake on any classic because of british drive it till its dead mentality, even though they made 5000 so many have been lost to rallying and abuse, I still see many broken because parts are premium and cars are cheap to buy but expensive to restore, I restore cars and a good restoration on one would cost 15k possibly more. For me they will always go up and have been now for years all be it very slowly, however that said I do think the next 5 or 10 years will see all classic cars go up in price massively because no one wants or likes electric which is not the future for cars they just dont know it yet, I think electric cars will be gone in 20 years, replaced by hydrogen possibly. Keep your gt4 its defo a great car and rare getting rarer by the year, keep it just because you love it.

Bought my GT4 Group A/CS Aussie delivered 117 of 151 for 4k AUD. These cars are awesome, and there's a reason they were such great rally cars. Will never sell mine as the sentimental value is too high

Recently picked up a 'barn-find' red CS (Grp A Rallye) in Australia, 1 owner car with gold plaque in the engine bay with his name on it. I was born in the mid 80's and as a kid was absolutely in love with the car when it was rallying, still obsessed with it 30+ years later. It is a highly overlooked and under-appreciated car but I think that in time values will start to go up albeit slowly. Personally I don't care as I will keep mine forever. Love yours, thanks for being among the small group of us who value the car and will keep it around. Not sure if you know about Carbon Microsystems but they love it so much as well that they've pretty much reproduced every body part of the car in carbon fiber available for sale. Cheers, mate!

Hi Richard, not sure if the cs gt4 has much appreciation left, it’s past the US 25 year rule and in Ireland here it’s past the 30 year vintage rule and still hasn’t made much difference, ignore the European prices, they’re pie in the sky, I turned down a red cs last year for 17k with 60k miles because I want a white one, looking back now I should of bit, and yes they are v difficult to come across but they don’t seem to have a strong enough following, give it another 10 years, when it’s over 40 years old, and I think the market left for a customer for this car is extremely reduced, in saying all that if you know anyone with a well priced white one just drop me a message😅

I think the GT4 is a good bet, not many CS left now, I used to own an import ST185 GT4 in metallic burgundy red, it didn’t have the turbo punch like an Impreza but I think that’s because of the twin entry turbo on the GT4, but I properly loved that car.

Not convinced on the GT4. Yes it’ll increase in value just like a Cortina has but the engine isn’t special enough over the standard car imho. It appeared more of a bit of a badge exercise to shift the car.

Lovely car with great pedigree. Was it that car or the later ones where Toyota fitted a variable valve that as standard, looked fine, but under acceleration it opened up to allow more air in around the turbo? 🤔 I think as time goes on, there will be fewer and fewer models available, a good calculated risk. Several years ago I had an original S1 Elise in red with 18k miles, and the original MMC brakes? Etc. Sold it about 8 years ago for £19k, still only worth about that, so don’t think lotus values ever really climb that far. I could write a list of other cars that I had the opportunity to buy, but didn’t and have went astronomical in last 8-10 years tho… 🤦‍♂️

I think any sort of low mileage, limited run golf gti are going to shoot up once VW stop priducing the new model. 30th anniversary, clubsport etc. The 2009 Focus RS will go the same way, as that was pretty special. Probably not £200k, but enough that they would be good investments. Also Impreza RB320.

A late JDM RX-7 Type RB unmodified finished in PR laugh Innocent Mica Blue is a good base bet. Made around 400 units and few left with a strong following especially in the US. A 1999 just hits the 25 year spot. Back in 1995 I traded a year old 968CS for a new UK RX-7 with Wilmslow Stratstone whom were both Porsche and Mazda dealers at the time. I remember still now just how much better the RX7 was but unfortunately the rotary engine shat itself. A great garage car if you can find one 👍

In the US they’re asking $250,000 for a 718 GT4RS. And the RS spyder. Porsche has lost their minds. I had 3 GT3s and I’m done. I sold my 991.2 gt3 and went to a new Z06/Z06 until I figure out what car I’m going to get next. Ferrari Lamborghini McLaren or another GT product when the world stops being crazy

Love this video Richard you definitely made the right decision on the Subaru 22B The 22B has legendary status from that period Other rally cars /road cars like Toyota/Mitsubishi/ford will never get close to the 22B I’m from the same generation as you and cars from this generation are just special. As for the future investments I’ve no idea personally I like a manual gearbox so much more involved when driving. I absolutely love the last of the air cooled 964 Porsche and the turbo what a car. Yes new Porsche’s are faster track ready etc but from a driving experience bet it’s more enjoyable on a B road around here where we live

Agreed with Mezger Manuals. It won’t be worth big money as too many were made, but the market are definitely sleeping on 996 Turbo Manuals. It’s done all the depreciating it’s likely to do. It has a Mezger engine. They will go up as really good ones get harder to find.
