Jeepers, look at those huge shoulders on Talulah. Milton Berle also dressed in drag back when I was a kid.

We don't know much about Cleopatra or Helen of Troy, but here we have Tallulah and a young Milton Berle. How extraordinary to see them brought back to life!

This is a delightful piece of retro TV. She was the Carol Burnett of her time. Albeit a more villainous one. Carol couldn't help that-- she was simply too adorable.

[opens fridge] "There's no hot water". I wonder, could it be that she wrote her own sketches? I wouldn't be surprised, she was a great sense of comedy. I would never had seen this wasn't it for dahhling KZbin....

The young Neil Simon did some material for her.

@@seethevolcane Ah!' They must have had a real click. In the gags she described herself. Or, her stage image. I don't know how she was private. But a mousey little housewife she can't have been. Anyway, she was an excellent comedienne in prersentation. That smoked and boozed voice helped, of course. It's too long ago that I saw her in Life Boat, but I'm sure there she had dialogue zingers. A great one for blase femme fatale typecasting she was. These days we call that a spoiled biatch. Strong women (Dorothy in Golden Girls) with a sense of muscled humor; I love it.

Tallulah did comedy so well, though she's best known for _Lifeboat_ , and on Broadway, _The Little Foxes_ , I suppose. What a versatile performer. Who would have expected this from the daughter of a Speaker of the House? Is there a Tallulah Pelosi we don't know about?

No it was a joke lol. She was in her 50s. She was born in 1902. And this was filmed between 1953-1955

Right 😂, she was a chain smoker and lover her bourbon, but she was exquisite.

The 28 year olds writing for today's television couldn't touch this stuff if their lives depended on it. 1:18 "Ah Tallulah, you've got a great delivery....where'd you park your truck?"
I’ve been doing research on this clip . This is the same show she did her fortune cookie comedy skit. It’s on KZbin as well

Have you seen her 1953 "Person To Person" with Edward R. Murrow? I saw it for the first time the other day which led me to this great post and others. I wish she had done more television, yet grateful for what she did. I still say she was cheated out of a best actress nomination for "Die Die My Darling" 😄
@kvngvuggottoa71393 жыл бұрын
@@TONEBHURT I saw it a long time ago but person who uploaded it deleted it. And I agree ! Miss Bankhead deserve so much more than what she got. There’s an impersonator name Charles Pierce,(the only person that should have played tallulah)
