I love this song. I feel like there's a deeper meaning in this song about a neurodivergent person who grows up and struggles to deal with adult life in an indifferent world that robbed them of their innocence.

God damn this song and this whole album just hit me so hard. I really related to it after a childhood best friend of mine passed away from an overdose 5 years ago. It really helped me work out my feelings and helped me get by. To this day i can’t help by cry a bit hearing this song and the whole album it’s off of. It really means a ton to me personally.

i like all these positive interpretations, but the way 'you're something special!' is sung makes me think it's like..? has other implications? i feel like i'm being manipulated or something. it feels like a really deceptive and swirly song. it's intoxicating though fr

lyrics Again in summer beds We found ourselves floating Burning up into the night Tangled to tethered lines Our limbs mixing tails No longer landlocked or tired of trying To extend beyond our limited reach Because I've been wearing this albatross Around my neck And you've been wrestling With broken bones And bottled ghosts But I still see you golden And I know with love grows And I know our limbs glow
@peterbartelt6234
@peterbartelt6234 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I never looked up the lyrics. I assumed the lyrics of the 1st verse wrongly, but mine had the same meaning, due to the sound conveying most of the feeling. I thought it was " it's on our backs" instead of "in summer beds". To me, that meant "trying to sleep while sweating"... same same but different. Also I thought it was "always missing tales", instead of "our limbs missing tails", like forgetting we have a tailbone. "In" instead of "on" but that was inconsequential. Great work.
@peterbartelt6234
@peterbartelt6234 4 жыл бұрын
Oh, also I thought it was "broken bones, and clavicles" but I always assumed that most of our broken bones come from lies we tell ourselves from "bottling up ghosts" as it were.

We drove after the show On dark and windy roads The fog was so thick I couldn't see through it We had to take it slow But little did I know That while I did my best to keep us alive You were dying out there on the west coast And those blue and red lights looked so bright in the fog With no seatbelts on and an expired license plate That Vermont state police man must have known What was to come He took it easy on us and let us drive away The road seem to go on forever that night and the hour kept getting late And all the cell phone towers that we drove past Had a grim look on their face Cuz they knew what they had to do But they didn't want to break the news It's an awful job that no one wants to do Kept awake by crazy dogs Too much baking powder used I had seven missed calls So I knew that it was bad, bad news I went to the van Taste of metal in my mouth Played that message back again and again Just hoping that I heard it wrong somehow And the people on the streets, they stared at me As I stared off into space Like a statue in the back seat, like a coffin in the grave I sat frozen in purple rain And I waited for the phone call to come to tell me That this was one of your pranks And I waited for weeks and weeks to let a Tear to roll down my face And I knew what I had to do But I didn't want to break the news It's an awful job that no one wants to do So this is where you went When you left to try to kill the president We tracked you down And we drug you back into the van somehow I threw you against a fence I felt so bad for doing it The next morning I just left And I drove home alone feeling so fuckin sick And somewhere in Pennsylvania I saw a dozen Amish women on a bridge They waved at me and I drove underneath And I worried about what it meant This was years ago I know , I know But now I'm back again And the goddamn telephone's telling me That I don't have a best friend I don't want to go home Because home's not where I live So I played that message one more time again

Ava don't you try To walk on inside Ava don't ignor my advice or it might cost you your life It might cause you to die Ava watch the birds Ignor all that youve heard Ava don't acknowledge the words Or they might cause you to die It might cost you your life Ava has a favorite song Gets stuck in her head And when the lonely nights are long She sings it in bed And at this very moment the same song the same notes She whistles as she walks to danger heres how it goes Simmons brothers hurry try to recoup their loss Rebuilding a rocket in the factory Moss But little do they know that standing waiting outside Ava hears Andre and the Aspens cry Hey Ava Wheres your mind Hey Ava Wheres your mind Since I've been gone The birds are your family now Oh my plan was wrong But as hard as I try I can't go back inside any how Now ava Hear me now Ava ava ava Hear me now You walk inside And see three people tied to the back Of a large device And two me throw a switch but as soon as the did My rocketship crashes through the ceiling Now we're done We're done We are done for Now we're done, we are done, we are done for

lyrics (tell me if this seems off) you're something special want you to know you are your makers must've kissed in cosmic dust you're something special you've got to know it's true could have been anything, but right, you're you you're something special you've got to shout it out if there are doubts then we will groove them out you're something special you are the little fang you keep on grinning and this world keeps nagging (little fang, little fang, little fang) *chorus* and if it ever starts to feel bad, little fang it's easy to explain 'cuz this world's not tame and even if it starts to feel sad, little fang remember that your gifts are your gain and even if it starts to pour down, little fang the melody sings what the words can't say cuz' they might laugh and they might be scared of the wilder thing with the spikes in her hair with the spikes in her hair with the spikes in her hair (i don't like the dark!) hey mrs creepy head hey mr fuzzy face go gnash your teeth again you're in the right place you're something special full moon, you'll have no doubt just let the astral music root you out you're something special don't hide your wolven face you keep on creeping, let the night be scary you're something special we all will sing your name embrace your darkness, never be ashamed you're something special to be a little fang you keep on spinning and this world keeps nag, nag, nagging *chorus* you're always flashing them the tooth (x8) *chorus*

The feeling this song gives me ; You are worth it, like everyone but you have something special no one truly cares about. You are doomed to be alone because this gift is something that people will reject while it has a huge potential. You become so annoyed by the world that you became rude to cope with loneliness and you realize that it only pushes you farther away from people but you can’t help it.
