Stay in Fuller Hotel or Samila Hotel (cheaper) and you can can easy access to great hawker food in Jalan Putera, Alor Setar. Also can walj to Aman Central shopping mall.

Kedah government only focus on Langkawi (politicians like Mahathir has lots if personal investment in Langkawi?) as a tourist destination, they never promote the hidden gems of Alor Setar. What a waste. People is Alor Setar are deprived tourist dollars.

That's y many ppl told me why visit Alor Setar, Alor Setar got what .. nothing here to visit. Go visit Langkawi they said but I just ignore them because they only know popular places but for me every places has hidden gems that government doesn't promote. Not only just Langkawi, genting highland, and Melaka

Alor Setar is very underated. The chinese hawker food here is great - better than those in Penang at lower price.
