SONY why would Nintendo go after Sony what has Sony got to do with this? well Sony Music partnered with pocketpair in July 2024 to create "Palworld Entertainment inc" seems like a bit of a strange partnership don't you think? not really because sony music owns crunchyroll and Aniplex amongst others which means they could release TV shows. anime, merchandise etc and take a compete with the Pokémon franchise taking take a chunk of Nintendo's (potential) profits.

What compensation or injunction they are suing for is, for the most part, not that important. Patent lawsuits are, even more so than copyright ones, extremely expensive to defend against. You can bleed companies dry with even the most obviously frivolous patent suit, and even in the US I am not sure you can apply SLAPP to patent suits, so you can't get an injunction or recover costs. So by simply having a bigger warchest, nintendo can reduce their ability to function.

Well, in pokemon ultra moon/sun you can ride some pokemon for certain actions, an example is tauros to breack rocks, and there was another une you can use to move big rocks, i remember using them to catch the 4 tapus after beating the league

By their logic, Rust of all things goes against their patents. Rust has a combat state (timer in the corner) that activates when you, for example, throw something (melee weapon) at an enemy (animal or player). It also features mounts (horses) that can be easily transitioned between. And trust me, you do not wanna go after Rust. Their playerbase is more online than Twitter. I would know, I'm one of them.

There needs to be a Pandora's Box clause in lawfare, which would give other entities the ability to use the reasons of a sue that a separate entity uses. Nintendo used the riding creatures in an open world as one of the reasons to sue, so Studio Wildcard, the developers of Ark: Survival Evolved, would be able to sue Nintendo for that same reason.

Nintendo should have sued Palworld for design theft because it's so obvious. Parts of the creatures are basically copy-pasted from Pokemon. Any other lawsuit makes no sense whatsoever.
