Iv played hundreads of games and zenos is the most strait forward and character building enemy iv ever seen like knowing that all the WoL did was awaken zenos’s true wants even being called friend is nothing short of special

Seeing that cutscene for the first time while playing a lalafell , it was hilarious seeing the warrior of light run past Golbez and make a beeline for the void while being absolutely smaller than everyone

For some reason, despite all the people who fawn over the WoL... Zenos saying "But why does it still live? Surely it is no match for you" is probably the most sincere and awesome compliment we're given in the entire game, given who it's coming from. IMO of course.

God, all this time later I keep coming back to that line. “It is the sole pleasure I know, and it is the sole pleasure I have to share.” This man, who has been denied social bonding his entire life, with absolutely no frame of reference for how to connect with people should be, and he *tries!* He bares his whole heart to us, the only thing he has, even if it’s violence.

I think what most people overlook in this scene...CHOOSE to overlook...is the juxtaposition to reality. That most people today strip others down to their fundamentals and refuse to look at them as fellow people with complexities and motivations that even we ourselves might find at least sympathetic if not reasonable and just, if only we bothered to take the time to know what they are in truth instead of making blind, biased, and uncharitable assumptions. NO ONE is simply a 'villain' looking to put others down for no reason but for the sake of evil. EVERYONE has a just cause in their own mind, a reason that they feel is GOOD and RIGHT. EVERYONE wants justice.....they just have different ideas about what justice is. And instead of blindly fighting one another and defining people by their ideals, we could see them as people, talk with them with a genuine intention of understanding....and POSSIBLY...just maybe...come to a mutual understanding where we can work together for a peaceful resolution. But alas...lofty ideals, no matter how beautiful, will always be blindly thrown aside, because we say to ourselves "yes if only THEY would see ME and be willing to understand and come around to MY way of thinking". Not a one of us looks in the mirror and thinks "Am I the one blindly looking? Am I the one who needs to seek understanding? Could my own way of thinking change?" And so nothing changes....

I love how everyone is like “bro how could you do that?! Imagine how we’d feel” like they all didn’t just sacrifice themselves five minutes before the fight, leaving the warrior of light alone to fight with all of their deaths on his conscience.

I feel like I'm the only one who thinks their WoL wouldn't canonically fight Zenos here. Not only does that sick bastard not deserve it, I never did all of this for "the adventure" of it, I did it because nobody else could. I did it for the same reason spider man does it. Everything he says here was incorrect. My WoL would have sat down and not say a fucking word.

“Or fly my children, and never look back” I fucking loved that line. This fight specifically I did as a trust because I wanted to see the Scions dialogue and it was one of the best boss fights ever for me for it.

Tbh, I thought the first actual final battle, all the way back in stormblood, I thought that was amazing, I was severely wrong

zenos is the funniest ffxiv character because he was given a second chance at life with no expectations, royal duties or imposed burdens, free to lead a perhaps self-fulfilling future by making different, wiser decisions after discovering the euphoria the world can actually offer after all, and he said lol fuck that actually ! hijacked an elezen, stole a hilariously small copter, then proceeded to do the exact same things but worse. dopamine deficient king

I have cried multiple times throughtout ff, but this was the time I easily broke down the most. Losing someone is always hard, but losing someone you love with all your heart is beyond words. I miss some very close people to me so much and this scene reminds me that I have people around me who I care for a lot.

I still remember getting to this part for the first time with my Sword and shield drawn ready to finish this fight, after picking that options to admit to him that even after all the shit that happen we were but a simple adventurer out in the world to explore and find new adventures. An we found it we beat great threats, travel through time an alternate worlds, we toppled evil people in positions of great power, turns foes into allies an beaten gods an demi gods of all kind. All of this happening while the world was heading to it end, but even when all hope seem lost we stood strong an over came a great threat. An here we were now facing off against our rival, Zenos in a realm where no gods, no plots, no traps, nothing just two warriors facing off at the edge of everything giving everything they got until both could no longer continue fighting.

Every few months I’ll go back reminisce about this. So well done

Zenos won that fight given that he had the power to save us when we couldn't save ourselves. Curious to see what is next given that basically the story and characters that came about even before ARR are done. No more Zenos, Emet, Hydaelen/Venat... basically no more Ascians or Empire either...

I came late to the party. I only started this game 2 years ago. I played through it and as i pushed further, i thought to myself it could not get any better. But the more i pushed further the better it got. This is the greatest game ive ever played. And from a narrative stand point nothing will ever come close. 10 years in the making and with a story so carefully crafted im just greatful to be alive at a time where i could witness its existence. Just glad its not ending just yet... cant wait for dawntrail.

I love every single thing about these characters. They bounce off each other so beautifully.

Look at his face..he was terrified they'd rip him to shreds, blame him for her death. But that wasnt what happened, she knew what Urianger meant to her daughter...what she meant to him. She understood. She knew. Mothers know. Mothers always know.

I’m happy he was the final boss. It doesn’t matter that he wasn’t a trial boss, he nevertheless was the final clash before the end of this whole journey that we’ve been on since the beginning.

This is the only cutscene that legitimately made me tear up. Amazingly written and executed.

Hopefully, we get something even a fraction as badass as this in Dawntrail.

I actually believe this dialogue was aimed at the player. I wouldn't call it void, but if you're a gamer, aren't we always looking for new challenges? Finish a game and then you move to another one to beat it. Or the next expansion, whatever you wanna call it. "Such pleasures, you seek for their own sake, and no other reason. Is this not so... adventurer?" OF COURSE WE CAN'T DENY IT. It would have been awesome for Zenos to actually gaze at the camera breaking the 4th wall while saying that line!

I hope there will be more scenes like this in the future. It was nice to be able to have the Scions fight alongside the Warrior of Light for once, instead of the typical using Azem's crystal to summon champions from beyond the rift.

I started sobbing during the Ardbert quotes during "the walk" and cried even harder and also smiled when Emet showed up. My god, what a character! Honestly, my favorite in any piece of media I've ever consumed. Love that Ascian
