Was kind of expecting it to sound terrible. But it doesn’t. Has a softness to it. Makes for a good mood music or background music for a fantasy video game.

@@Oldbanjoman Thank you. I think these were medium tension classical guitar strings here.

Beautiful sound! Good idea to do this! Ball end nylon strings might solve the string breakage at the tailpiece.

I'm having mine converted to nylon string as I type this. Did you have any problem with the 5th string nut slot being too narrow? I'll be using LaBella #17 strings and a vintage style tailpiece.

Are those strings harder or easier to play than steel?

Dá para afinar em double C também?
@thebanjogentleman
@thebanjogentleman 7 ай бұрын
Yes, think that would work great, but at a lower pitch to reduce tension. So double F maybe

Thanks. I've just found some old nylon strings in a draw and I'm going to try them out tomorrow and see if it suits me. They're terrible quality, but it's just a test at this stage.@@thebanjogentleman

Make sure strings are locked on to the posts. Nylgut strings can slip. Utube has various knots to use.

I have nylguts on my Goodtime. It’s a good combo. It feels very nice. I might put them on my Troubadour.

Gorgeous playing ! Love the timing of each notes. Which kind of strings do you use ? Do you need to tweak the banjo's setup when changing from steel strings to nylon, other than compensating for the tension ?

Thank you! These are Aquila nylgut strings, no adjustments were needed at all. I did choose to use a two leg bridge but I don't think it makes much difference

Do you need a different bridge with the nylon strings?
@thebanjogentleman

You might want a lighter bridge with only two legs for nylon strings. But these are steel strings in this video.

in classical guitar, they call it p i m a - who knows why? nit I
@nvdawahyaify
@nvdawahyaify 10 ай бұрын
The reason why they are called p-i-m-a in classical guitar, is that is the first letter of the Spanish names for the fingers; pulgar, indice, Medio, anular.

You do know that you can get Nylon, or any kind of syntetic strings, in any kind of strength you want at a strings dealer, right? Don't have to experiment with already set sets of strings at trial and error.
