Very informative. The flowers have already started to appear on my small seedlings, which have not been transplanted yet. Is this premature? Also, once the melons start to grow, can I put the insect cover back on them, to keep them warmer and protect from infestation?

Thanks for all the great tips! In the store it's such a gamble to get a nice ripe melon. This is my first year growing most of the melons you mentioned and with the cost of watermelon this year I'm hoping for a good crop so I don't have to pay the huge prices.!
