Love this story ARC and how it affects the PCs. Listening this makes me feel like all of you are part of my regular group. Wish i could play this with you guys :-)

The whole tavern scene, starging with the absurd conversation with the innkeeper, is one of the most Monty-Pythonesque moments in the history of Telling Tales.

Absolutely delightful adventure with brilliant GM and players. I would love to see more Into the Odd! This is the best series I have seen in a very long while and you've inspired me to run this adventure for my friends, even though I know it won't be anywhere near as good as when run by Matt. Still, I'll do my best. Thank you!

It's funny we seem to interpret Eufrynda in the same way. I don't know if it's the picture that draws such a vivid image in our mind haha. But Furia I played him more like Sean Harris. The same kind of raspy voice

I'm friends with Cass Rea who helped write this game, and he's starting up a play group with some friends. Glad I could find an actual play to check out before playing it!

Found this channel when looking Symbaroum rpg gameplay to watch. This happened about 3 weeks ago. I am happy i have many episodes to watch, i like the gm:ing and the players. Quite good sound and picture guality, well told story by Matt. Nice that you show some pictures sometimes too, it greats more athmosfere. All in all, very nice.

In my game I homebrewed that you gain only 1 permanent corruption if you reach your temporary threshold. Curious to see how you have homebrewed it yourself in next episodes

A tantalizing first episode. The way the story slowly began to veer from mundane to the first hints of the creepy supernatural was really well orchestrated Matt. I really appreciated the bit lenghtier character and world introduction but the plot kept always moving which gave the opening a nice pace where it never felt things came to a halt or there was dead air. Thanks to all the excellent players and Matt! Looking forward to the next episode!

Thanks very much! A slow bleed from the mundane to the creepy is pretty much what I go for in my cosmic horror.

Funny, when I ran my campaign, I placed Ludo and Belun at the Jakad's heart. Instead of the goblins I had the elves making their demands so the players had to decide what to do with the barbarian brothers or the elves would attack and kill everyone in the inn.

Sounds like a good way to merge The Promised Land and Blight Night!

I know I'm 4 years late but I wanted to say I totally agree with the GM on the use of VTT. Also great start! I'm glad I'm not the only one who completely revamped The Promised Land. I'm curious to see where this is going. I love your group dynamic, great GM, great players! I'm off to the next episode. Cheers!

Thanks very much! Yeah I quite liked The Promised Land as written but given how I cannibalised it for the Prologue episode I definitely needed to do some switching round to make the climax of it work with different characters.

And the detective work commences! Great roleplaying from everyone and I like the way Free League has built these Adventure Collection scenarios to enhance the Chronicle of Thorns and expand their themes and the world and political developments of the setting. A great idea from Matt to introduce the party as part of the entourage of Deseba the Old. Not only does this allow the party to interact with her after quite a long absence after Wrath of the Warden but also puts them straight back in the midst of this developing complex political situation. Love it!
@TellingTalesRP16 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yeah they're great scenarios to scatter around the main campaign, for the most part. Having the party be "on tour" with Deseba was a real eureka moment for me when I was planning the first session out, for sure.

Hey, glad I found you guys online! I ran a few spontaneous Wicked Ones one-shots and they were so much fun! I'm excited to see how someone else runs the game and interprets some of the aspects of the game that have been difficult for me to understand.

Wonderful to see you continuing the excellent Symbaroum campaign! I stumbled upon your stream after I had bought the Core Rulebook last year and was looking for a Symbaroum live play stream to see how the system worked in action and suddenly had binged all the 120+ episodes. Such a great group of players and a great GM and a compelling and intriguing story. Symbaroum has quickly become one of my favourite RPG settings and rule sets of all time and you have brought it to life in the best possible way. Keep telling excellent tales! P.S. I just ran the Promised Land introductory adventure for my group last weekend and we had a lot of fun and I hope to run the Throne of Thorns campaign for them eventually as it is truly an epic tale. Mikko

Where this adventure and maps can be found?

It's called Blight Night - it used to be part of Adventure Pack 1, but I think it's only available as part of the Starter Set now.

Great to see you back in the world of Symbaroum, guys !! Very excited about this new chapter. By the way, I wanted to let you know that as a French DM, I included your characters as NPCs in my own campaign, following a different arc after the Tumb of Dying Dreams. So now, after the death of Effie, they followed Steo's eternal advice against ever setting foot again in Davokar, and they settled in Thistle Hold. And after quite a long time and several side-quests for my players, Steo has once again joined the Guard, and has been promoted from sergeant to lieutenant - and then chosen by Marvello himself to succeed him as Captain of the Guard of the Hold ! (Of course Darmat is still around, as his right-hand man.) Cheers !

Totally agree about Mystery vs Metaplot. Keeping mystery is essential, and GMs often ask designers to explain everything… :)

I simplified Faarah Moroun by creating sections, a bit like under Karvosti. So some decor, mood and function that is homogenous through a fifth of the map. (Lady’s chambers, Lords chambers, priests chambres, etc)

I really liked how the team acted in the case file. Although they all hated Jell Skyler, the last representative of the free press in a corporate media world :-) (cough. Well played by Matt) And in the last episode you could observe how Inga literally suffered with Fenna. Well done folks!
Cover is critical in this game! Never stand in the open!

This has been great. Running this style mystery is hard because you need to balance what to share and when. How to get clues out that the players missed, don’t over or under share and keep the mood of every scene. Everyone has been doing g great. Making my longer drives much more enjoyable Thanks
