It was an ingenious building concept, a fast food building in the shape of a Barn roof, I don't recall ever seeing one with a drive thru window, though I could be mistaken. There was a huge Salad bar, fixed seats & booths. I recently gone to the Chat -n- Chew restaurant- in Warren, Ohio. It's been there for 36 years, it was a former Red Barn. It's interesting to see that some of the original Red Barn floor layout still remains in tact and is still being used. In today's dollars it would be almost impossible to duplicate all those Red Barn buildings, while the Layout was somewhat simplistic, the large Architectural design of the physical buildings would be shunned by today's business models. All those flashing rotational lights on those Red Barn signs, and those huge massive truss supports that made those mansard roof gables, to duplicate all this today would be impossible.

It was a highly successful chain in its day, but it changed hands and the new company ran it in the ground. Sort of like Sears Robuck & Company, the same thing is happening now with the old Chrysler Corporation, "Stallantis" is the mother corporation, but they are running it in the ground. It's all about making the big money, these investors rather drain all the life they can out of an institution and wreck it and sell off any remaining assets like buildings and pocket everything they can and run.

I was 7 years old in 1976. I remember this tv commercial very well. But my family was dirt poor. We could hardly afford groceries. Hunger was a constant companion. So, just forget about buying new toys. As a result, tv commercials for toys and games like this served only to torture me and make me ache. I would have LOVED to own this Hangman game, among many other toys advertised on tv. Oh, I had a toy collection. But that was made up of mismatched odds and ends, bits and pieces, that were handed down to me by friends or found in the streets somewhere. Fast forward 48 years later. By sheer chance I run across this game (complete) on eBay selling for a really cheap price. Accounting for inflation, it was priced cheaper than what it originally cost back in 1976! So, naturally I bought it. It took 48 years for me to finally get to own this game, but better late than never. It is such a THRILL to at long last own one of many toys and games I saw advertised on tv and longed for during my childhood, but couldn't have because of my poverty.

After Saturday August 25th, 1984 When Fat Albert went off the air CBS Saturday Morning Cartoons were no longer the same. New episodes were made in syndication 1984-84 Season. Pryor's Place replacing Fat Albert wasn't the same. In the 1985-86 Season Saturday Supercade was taken off the air.

My 2 brothers and I had those, and we played with them all the time . A timeless toy that kids could use their imagination on how to and what to crash them into. The craptastic plastic of today would never take the abuse. Way too cool of a toy.

Smash-ups were fun as a 10 year old watching TV in 1973. Fender benders (or worse) as an adult are less amusing.
