Coming from Gravesend was weird going to the P/Nut factory😮 all my mates were ribbing me as they used to take the pee out of the lads in town. All my family worked on the River and at Sea so it was inevitable my life would be at sea or on the river. Sailing out of Tilbury on OCL & Blue Star was always special to me passing Gravesend outward and Homeward Bound. 46 years and still going to sea only a few trips left. But what a blast I’ve had sailing all over the world🎉🎉🎉👨🍳. Met some great lads & lassies and sailed on some fantastic ships. 😢 all gone now proud to be a merchant Seaman and glad I went to the P/NUT school 🫡🥴

Amazing !! Sir I see you play this guitar a lot. I watched some videos and I admit I am confused. In some videos it sounds good and in some others it sounds cheap and plastic. Can you please describe the guitar and why you like to play it ?
@ajlmirrormist3 ай бұрын
Thanks for commenting...appreciated. this video is close up and fingerpicking into a Zoom Q2n 4K video recorder... some have strumming and nail brushing down stroke vibe and are further away from the camera on some so perhaps that has something to do with it. I don't know.... It didn't sound great when i purchased it but after a year of hanging up on the wall while I played electric through amps it opened up a bit. I like how it sounds now. I think I used the Zoom Q2n for all of the recordings. hope that helps somewhat...kind regards

Not sure how we could pull it off but I'd love to work something up with you sometime. I have always found it to be a learning experience when I make music with other musicians and I have no doubt I could learn a thing or two from you.

@@ajlmirrormist I'm not much of a writer as I've made a career playing in bars where people want to hear what they know and how they know it, but KZbin has allowed me to sorta make covers a little bit of my own, or at least try too. Actually at this moment I'm working on an original I wrote a few months ago and I'm finally getting around to recording it. I have it arranged how I want it and now I'm recording the piano, drums, bass, and guitar and I'm leaving an open spot for a lead break but I havent decided on whether I'll play the lead on piano or guitar. It's called Wild Roses and I hope to have it done by morning so I can upload it tomorrow. Its a little more pressure when it's an original I think, especially when you are putting it out there to be judged, so my fingers are crossed it turns out to be half decent.

I went there in November '77. I honestly can't really recall too many happy memories. The chilling winds sweeping off the Thames, always feeling hungry, and the dorm' raids at night (which, in fairness, were fun!). The Flying Angel Club was a welcome respite. Quite a few didn't return after the Christmas break (I was tempted not to return), but I'm glad I stuck it out.

Remember feeling hungry all the time too... I recall joining my ship and having to wait weeks for passengers... I was bored silly and felt the same as you about jacking it, thinking about what I'd be doing with my mates... Glad I stuck it out too... once sailing was under way, even being as sick as as dog in the Bay of Biscay didn't put me off :)

Yes that would have been the original Sea School at Gravesend back in 61... The new school was built in 66 and officially opened in 67 so was almost new when I was there in 68. You Vindi Boys had it a lot tougher by all accounts. Thanks for your comment.
