Crazy to say but I like this version better. The fact that he wrote this 4 years prior to it releasing is amazing and just goes to show what his life was like even before the success. Though the original track (Da Brat) is essentially a club record, hearing these rhymes over this beat makes the chord progression sound a bit more somber. Lastly I feel like I hear him more and feel the lyrics more over this beat than the official one (I know crazy lol). The way he attacked the pocket of this beat and the flow he used was impeccable. Long live DMX.
