👍 #263 I can't praise you/the falconer enough for your skills and knowledge in your rehab and return of this Peregrine Falcon back to the wild for a second chance. You left no stone unturned and this is the sort of work and video that could be used in falconry education. Outstanding! I enjoyed watching every second from start to finish. Thank you for sharing this and well done to the photographer too. 👍◕‿◕

Bloody awesome video,, great work your association is doing,,if Falconry is thousands of years old,,why can't it be done legally in Australia..like they do in the U.S.A. it would help keep some safe from feral cats.??.

I don't know any falconers that use "Starvation"-we do use weight management. Some falconers do use "imprints" but a lot of those are captive bred birds which later are put back into breeding projects. Perhaps you should not throw rocks at glass houses with your blanket statements. Looks like you are using a technique developed by FALCONERS to help with your rehabs-good for you.

The finest example I've seen of sound rehab techniques practiced by skilled falconers. Congrats

Hey Guys, the German Falcon Order (not sure if right translation) just shared your awesome video :D Sadly, there are many so called "animal-rights activists" near my hometown, and they opened a rescue center where they collect injured birds of prey, keep them in awful aviaries for weeks and then just release them again. Many falconers I know tried to tell them the birds need training to survive outside again, but they think falconry is torture :/ That's why we need videos like this one to show that falconry is awesome and can help wild injured raptors :) Thank you!
@andreacalvin99809 жыл бұрын
+Ju Fl Which country are you in? Feel free to share this video if it may help. Suggest to them that they put trackers on some of the birds they release after being in aviaries for a few weeks, especially young orphaned birds....they won't! There are many people that release raptors to a certain death but pat themselves firmly on the back anyway but almost worse than that, they say falconry techniques are cruel or not justified. It says a lot about them to the people who know about the reality. I can be reached at [email protected] Regards, Michael.

I'm from Germany. Luckily we have many falconers who treat injured birds of prey like you did :) Best regards.

Thanks Guys and Gals, your support and encouragement means a lot to us. To anyone...if you support the use of falconry techniques in the rehabilitation of raptors please drop us a line at [email protected] What you see in this film, so we're told, is actually illegal in some Australian States and Territories. They suggest that we do it only to derive some sort of 'perverted entertainment', and/or that we use it merely as a 'guise' to engage in 'illegal falconry'. These things say a lot more about them, than it does us, and I flatly refuse to allow them to vilify me just because I'm appropriately skilled and experienced enough to do the job properly and to fulfil our collective moral obligation to these birds, often on behalf of everyone who was involved in their rescue, recovery and rehabilitation.

That's right raptor presentations, it's typical of most raptors that have become accustomed to daily handling etc. This was perhaps her 50th flight with us so she knew she could leave whenever she was ready. The release site was actually within just a few kilometres of where she was originally found but a lot of water had passed under her bridge of life in between times. If they could talk to each other, in social groups, I wonder what she'd say once back in the wild....."you'll never guess what happened to me" perhaps! LOL.
