I fly mine late in the day most of the time to try to avoid the BOPs. I never lost any in the dark and the tactic worked well until my Peregrine finally figured it out. Going forward after a year's break of not flying, I'll probably go back to dusk flying once the kits are settled. Like I said, I never even worry about them, but I think it's a result of multiple generations being flown this way.

Nice kit! I see a lot of good spinner in that kit, but I flew my bird late one time too. Only one came down that night but I'm glad most of them made it back in the morning except one went missing.

I must say, the flight appeared like you were in a competition. All the birds were spinning well. The last 13 that stayed up, into the night were in great shape, feeling the best in my opinion. That poor deep spinning black roller, mistakes like that can be self correcting permanently. LOL! I remember losing a few back in the day when I flying rollers.

Thanks. I didnt think she was going to make it seeing how much in pain she seemed and looking very week. I had to put her in the big loft on a nesting bowl so she wouldn't roll over.

I have had a few get lost because of the hawk but almost the whole kit that only happened a few times when I lived up in NJ. Here in Georgia this is first. Now I will have to put up some lights over the loft just incase so atleast they can see the loft better when its getting dark.

Deep, glad you have a lake. I bred a blue check Whiteside great grandson off of some Mee birds you sold me 3 years ago. He rolled about 200 ft and killed himself, but his sister has control. She's a 40, 50 footer. I love the bird I purchased from u. I am really grateful and thankful . Thanks once again.

Lou, I still do not know if they are roll downs as they are only 2 months old so I need to feed them up and get them stronger to decide if they are truly roll downs. I have had 5 roll down this year so far so I need to adjust their feed and let them mature more to see if they are in fact a roll down.

The parents are my breeders now, I flew them 1-2 seasons. Once I am happy with their performance I lock them up and stock them, I loose plenty to the cooper so I don't like to chance them and keep flying them. Its always when you say one more time and that's when you lose them. I learned my lesson.

That pool works as natural trampoline for the birds. Regardless the roll down, you have very nice Rollers. I miss my Tipplers a lot.

Yes and no, there are too many things to consider before calling them roll downs. They are only 3 months old so they still need to build up strength to pull themselves out of a roll. They are starting to go through the molt so thats another factor and maybe they were not high enough to pull out. A deep roller needs enough height to complete its roll. I still think they are too young. Only time will tell, if they are roll downs then they will take care of them selves, if they learn how to control then I take care of them.

Flying roller this is part of the game you gonna have out of 20 kit bird 2 to 3 bird like that who wants roll down and also depend what family you flying i just had other day. roll down one of kill himself hit the roof I would say don’t fly those who roll down for couple days you may see difference
