Well done that man. These jobs always look waaay more difficult than they actually are. It’s usually the sheer amount of time that is required that kills off a job like this. Again, well done!

Hi how much did it cost you all in all pls thanks
@whatsuptoday83765 ай бұрын
@@jessF hi the panels were about £80 £40 each and you have to buy two minimum. Plus sealants say a total of £100 plus your time but it was a few years ago and costs of materials are up. Cheerz

The problem with these vans is that in the factory there are bums on the end of a silicone gun who just don’t even care . I’m seriously thinking of not buying a van now . Way to risky .

This is one of the best video’s on these repairs. We’ve actually got the exact same van and looks like we’ve got damp damage on the rear lower corners. Hoping to tackle it in the next month or so, thanks for the video.

Noticed some dampness in my VW T4 hightop camper. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out where water could be coming in. I’ve started removing bulkhead units and found the problem has been festering for some time. Followed the path of dampness and think I no know where the problem started from…one screw hole above the hightop window…( took window covers off to clean last summer don’t think I screwed it back properly) These last few months have been nothing but torrential rain and that one screw hole has caused me a headache but after watching your presentation I now feel it’s something I can do or at least attempt a repair. Thanks for posting, you did a great job of fixing yours

Brilliant, My Bailey however appears to have the insulation boded to the panel, and the bit I've tried was an absolute nightmare, the only thing I will do that you didn't is paint the wood side of the boards with Ronseal wood preserver/hardener as it plasticises the wood so water will never get through again

Caravanning used to be a cheap way of getting away for a few weeks, last summer we went to the West Country and we're shocked at how much it was to pitch up, none of the sites we visited were less than £25 per night, these were all crappy camp sites with very poor facilities

Why does everyone want to use wd40, glue, adhesive and paint will not stick to it unless you use a Alcohol to get rid of it, so you could of done that in the first place, wd40 is silicone

Hi Paul how does the original fixing work to connect the body to the chassis. Can you copy this type of fixing and use new parts. Otherwise you will nee to comeuppance with a system to clamp the shell. Cheers

Brings back memories of the rot we found in our secondhand 'van. There was no smell and no bubbling to warn us. It was only when we removed the cracked shower tray did we find the rotten walls and frame. Somebody had actually boarded over the damage to match the rest of the 'van ! I'm normally Mr Optimism but after feeling *'totally had*' my first reaction was let's get it to the tip. In those days there were no online tutorials but thanks to my clever father in law, we repaired it very much in the way you did. We used to laugh that once the 'van was fixed and put back together - it was stronger, heavier and better made than when it left the factory. Message then : (1) Buyer beware and (2) never give up :-)

@@whatsuptoday8376 thanks for your video. We just bought a van with issues, which was reflected in the price, and are just trawling youtube to get good ideas. I like the way you stuck with your van and just repaired the slight damage when required. The new vans are full of electronics and sensors which make fixing at home tricky.

With the sealant, would it be possible to put on all on then screw down the plastic strip before it dries to squidge into all of the nooks and crannies?
@whatsuptoday83762 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike After completing the job and went on to do a Hike roof light in the van I found this mastic sealant tape which is about 3mm thick and rolls off like tape over where you want to use it and then secure your strip etc. Its much cleaner with no sticky mess to clean up. I suppose you use what best for your job. Thanks for the like and comment. Cheerz
