I love Mac in that final scene. "Don't be scared." "Stay calm." "Again, just... stay calm." Emily Mortimer was so good in this.

IMHO, 'The Greater Fool'... is one of the top 10 episodes in the history of series television- along side Aaron Sorkin's other masterpiece; 'Two Cathedrals' (The West Wing)... and the consequential 'Oximandias' (Breaking Bad)... the clever 'Dragonfly in Amber' (Outlander)... the impactful 'Proxy Authentication Required' (Mr Robot)... the heart wrenching 'Long Long Time' (The Last of Us)... the deeply felt 'No Weddings and a Funeral' and 'Sunflowers' (Ted Lasso)... for dramatic good measure 'Insolvent Phantom of Tomorrow' (Orphan Black)... and finally, the uneasy relief of 'Mayday' (The Handmaids Tale).

And the answer is not communism/facism, which is where the world is heading. Its morals, ethics, integrity, the family unit ie man and woman, sense of community. We have allowed evil to remove all of those things and have not stood up for what is right. Thank goodness the Eurpoeans and the Chinese citizens are fighting back. You just dont see it on your mainstream media.

Not really. I'm based in Cambridge but come over to a family home every so often. I do a bit of cycling around there but not much. Probably not a good ride buddy, but there are plenty around. Good luck!

I was born in and spent the first 8 years of my life living at number 8 Kingston St (the only yellow brick house in the road). I have such happy memories of living there and I always wanted to buy “my house” but unfortunately that will never happen due to the ridiculously high prices of these lovely terraced houses. Locals continually get priced out in many towns and cities which is extremely sad.

Eh ... So - I formed an opinion from watching these things - but didn't want to comment as I hadn't actually watched the show. So - I watched several episodes of the show. This show is a fantasy. It is a show about people who want to go back to doing serious Journalism - and not have everything dependent on their ratings. That's what the show is about. It would never happen. The people doing the news have always been all about money. And that IS an issue the people on this show have to deal with. It's just that they wouldn't have to deal with it - because they'd never do it in the first place. The REASON - that they didn't have the type of sensationalism in the past - was because they didn't know they could make money. The FCC - REQUIRED the networks to do a certain amount of public service broadcasting in return for being allowed to use the air ways. But - people watched Watergate - and the Networks realized they could make money off the news (!!!!!). That changed everything. It's a big long thing so I'll let it go at that but the news today - especially on cable - is just horrific. The Network News isn't that bad. The other thing is though - is this show - is part of the same Liberal Media people as you have in even the Network News. That Liberal Jerk Off Sam Waterson - remarks how Walter Cronkite ended the Vietnam war - as if that was a good thing. Millions of people died because we abandoned Southeast Asia the way we had abandoned China and would abandon Afghanistan. Jeff Daniels does a great job but the basic idea of the show - is bull shit. No one would ever do it. .

Nice, we’ve been looking for exactly this.. shame they didn’t make the path twice as wide and segregate the cycling part - plenty of room for much of it and safer for everyone.

Best thing about that video was , it made me famous in the yard. I was the driver. And I had broken down. 😅. After my delivery. No other person complained. Only this twat on his bike. Who found the need to go pass me six time. Was still under somerfield then. Just been taken over by coop. And we had no small trucks in our depot. But why would a twat go the opposite direction spin around on his bike and even bother when it wasn't even in his direction. I know. May a very small personal part , was involved. I couldn't say anything at time as was employed by wincanton coop. But I'm not now. Was a good job. , But so many people who have small parts use to make it a pain. And his must of been tiny.

Excellent post, it shows exactly the issue. Multiple delivery drivers aren't capable of understanding the issues they cause. Luckily enough, your business can. The changed their practise as a result of this. Demonstrated by multiple passing-by of the same place. Yes, I did ride around, and showed how pedestrians struggle with this issue. Now, if you'd broken down, I would get it. Forgive me, if I'm not entirely sure that's the truth. Fundamentally, the goal here was to stop big lorry delivery in this neighbourhood. Which this video did. (And, by the way, if you go with attacking personal traits you know nothing about, first, you demonstrate losing the argument, second, you look like you're compensating for something!)

I still say the show is criminally underrated. It Hass to be one of the greatest short running shows I have ever seen in my entire goddamn life that sticks with me all the time it had a few ups and downs TV writing is hard and not knowing whether or not, you’re going to be able to flush stuff out, over the course of X amount of seasons makes it very hard to write effectively yet meaningfully and I can understand and appreciate that, but what is there is just awesome and some of it displays what we truly hope for out of our fellow men and women, and should strive for. It shows how flawed we can be yet the level of greatness we could achieve not for fame or money, but because it feels right, it is right. Fighting for truth, honor, humility, decency, those should be the qualities of our journalists… what are journalists do today should be limited to the tabloid circuits.

At ~1:11 you cross over the place where the Stour Valley Line (from Cambridge to Sudbury via Haverhill) used to go. When you drive this route you go over two bridges: one goes over the river Granta and the other used to go over the railway
@RadWagon
@RadWagon 2 жыл бұрын
I rarely drive that way, but hadn't noticed the two bridges, thanks for the tip. I will cycling that way for work soon. The route is quite a bit better nowadays. It still has some issues. We do need that railway back! Maybe not quite along the same route, but still.

I think Forrest Gump was "a greater fool". He never thought of anything as impossible or unreachable. He just moved from one thing to another as logical steps without fear of failing because he hadn't considered passing or failing. He just focused on what he did and no one was going to tell him it wasn't possible. Interesting bc I never considered that whole movie as a metaphor until watching this.

It’s so sad that people who desperately need to see this kind of programming would never bother and if they did, they wouldn’t understand it. Sorkin writes the things that we wish our politicians and news media would say, but we lack the courage to hold them accountable for it.

Without a quality show like this, "Sorority Girl" finds whatever work she can and does what 99% of other Hollywood actresses do: Whip their tits out on camera, usually as a sex industry worker. Yep, Sloan and Mackenzie too. Hopefully we'll keep cancelling all this brainy highbrow crap and just get busy with the titties!
