If you have a close eye to the u joint you ll see two tiny holes ,try to spray WD 40 into it …keep steering right and left until it get free then apply any type of grease all around it , the grease will melt and penetrate between the join …good luck

The metal zip will hold the rubber that holds the solenoid/ motor for not sliding down due to the heat coming from the exhaust ....when your EGR valve start going bad you will notice a kicking like your wheels are sliding on ice , that’s caused by EGR valve ...at this point the solenoid inside the EGR moved down and the plastic gear on it does not make full direct contact with the rod mini pinion to fully open/close EGR as it suppose to be , once the motor getting more down 1/4 inch the gears between the rod that opens and close the EGR valve rod and the solenoid gear does not touch each other anymore ...that s what cause EGR valve not opening or close anymore ....tightening the solenoid with metal Zip will help for sure .... Moreover, I notice that the heat was making the hall EGR valve cover expended which allows part inside to get loose and will cause another problem ...by tightening the cover help

The front main seal on my 2005 driving device has an oil leak so I am thinking should change it myself. The bearing is still nice and tight but a lot of oil is getting and the belts and pulleys so I want to fix. Did you have to take the fan blades off ? because I don’t think there is enough space to slide the pulley out until I do that. Did you get an aftermarket one or Volvo dealer parts? Look like aftermarket ones are around 350 on eBay. Don’t how much the Volvo dealer want.

Hi, I did replace driving device itself cause the bearing on it was wobbling and leak oil and you can see the belt was going bad that tells us that the main driving device need to be replace. This is an original part from Volvo dealership cost 500$ /190$ for the core ....no need to take the fan blades you have just the exact space to pull the polly ... you can twisted up and down while turning the blade and will come out .... The device comes with oil on it but don’t forget to add some oil in the main hall on the device .... 4 to 5 hours job ... you can do it yourself and watch the fuel pump shaft is driving by the device too as showing on the video .... I think I replied to you by email once I saw your question if not I’m sorry about the delay ...

Abdel Iamami, I did also replace it myself as well. I brought a nice used one off eBay for $150 and I also took the fan blades off and left it hanging on the fan hub to give me more room. The only special tool I needed was a t-45 (t50? don’t remember) drive bit and a few can of brake clean to wash all the oil stain away. All in all not a very difficult job. I didn’t change the fuel pump and it was ok.
