I’ve always been told ( by old school professionals) to use YES paste. Will it hold up well?
@colorfulcollage2 күн бұрын
I’ve only used it when applying watercolour paper to wooden cradle boards. I’ve noticed that sections of it come unstuck. I‘ve switched to art medium and will see how that holds up long term.

Hello, I think this is the first video of yours that I’ve seen and just wanted to say how much i loved everything ❤ Subscribed I’ve been wanting to incorporate resin on my 3d-ish collages but I’m worried about yellowing. Have you ever noticed anything on your clear resin coated pieces?
@colorfulcollage8 күн бұрын
Thanks for the sub! Yes all resin will yellow eventually. Some worse than others. There are videos on KZbin that compare brands…but only in the short term (18months later?).

I am a new subscriber here, I am blown away by your authenticity and I believe we find inspiration when we need it the most. Like you I love paper, my happiest memories as a kid, were like you, at the library, or whenever I had a colouring book, some pencils, paper and glue. How funny it is that we come back to the most basic of supplies that made us happy. In a digital world, I am in awe of what is possible, but nothing beats cutting pieces of paper and making a collage. A few years ago I started doing this, just collaging on index cards, and these are my most treasured pieces, I feel so happy looking at them. Watching your video has made me realise that maybe the answer to what I love, and should be pursuing has been in front of me the whole time! 😊 A million Thank-you's and hugs for your honesty and helping me find my true joy ❤

I am really enjoying your channel!!!!! So so much. And I am with you. I have never sold my art, but I think I would have such a hard time doing it. I have this one watercolor floral piece that I ADORE and I wanted to sumbit it to an exhibition, but they require you to put it up for sale if it is accepted. I was like Ohhhhhhhh Nooooooo!!!!!!! So I didn't submit!!!! I guess I could have just priced it really high but even then I didn't want it to sell! Lol!!!!! Not to mention, I have tried countless times to re-create that piece and I can't do it! It just never turns out with the same magic!

LOVE that you now have a newsletter! So fun to watch you showcase your newest pieces. I saw animals in some of your pieces - not surprising really as I'm all about animals - but it was interesting as I saw owl, whale, and peacock in three different pieces of yours. I sure hope you will be able to become a full time artist soon as our world needs more artists and beautiful spirits like you!! Can't wait to see your website!

They are glued into a cradle board that has raised sides- I think they are specifically made for resin art. I’ll pour the resin onto them after.

This was very good for me. You're saying what I know is true about just get up and get started. The reward and undoing self sabotage is a body of work you can be proud of. My current excuses is that I need to clean out and organize. When I start, I end up sitting down and start creating. It's kind of backwards but I've let it go for so long, I feel like I can clean out, organize AND create at the same time. It helps to have a few days off in a row from my job to divide it out. I'm feeling better since I've sketched a little in the past couple of weeks. I need to go there. I'm kind of in three separate cars on a race track, getting to the finish line at the same time. ❤

we all feel like this and I think we have been mis-sold a lie about the numbers, and the amount of viewers, it doesn't matter if our videos reach and change the life of just one person, this is amazing, I don't even see the analytics, I have no interest in them. I procrastinate so much, each day I wake with a creative to do list of ideas and each night I am lucky if I have done 1 thing!

I am with you. My instinct to share my art and my process has basically led me to not enjoy creating anymore. When I did on Instagram, nothing. When I do it on KZbin, nothing. I know it takes consistency but I feel like the self doubt will just eat me alive before I ever get "there". And I am not even trying to do it for money. I just feel the desire to find a community to share what I do with. it doesn't have to be huge!!!! I don't need to monetize my hobby, but still.....regardless of that, putting myself out there to receive nothing back just defeats me. I am at the point where I don't even want to create art right now because every time I do, I get excited and want to start sharing again, which leads me down the self doubt rabbit hole and each time it gets harder to pull myself out. This is a vicious cycle I can't seem to escape. Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing this video. Really great video!

I don't think any of us is where we thought we'd be. Reality intervenes in our dreams without fail. I'm 70 and have only recently started playing with art like collage, monoprinting, water colour. I've been knitting, crocheting and sewing since I was pre-teens, taught by my Nana and Mum, but this new world is exciting to me. Despite my excitement I still hesitate to make art because I doubt my ability. Intellectually I KNOW it doesn't matter if it's not good, as nobody else needs to see my messes, BUT emotionally I get disappointed with my, very human, self. I still plough on because I'm having fun

Interesting take on a complex issue. Disagree with Seinfeld though on work being the antidote as well as a lack of discipline. As someone who suffers from depression and being creative (btw, I don't like the term highly creative, you are either creative or not,...I digress), I take exception to someone who says "just work" and you "have no discipline". Pfft. I think most of your issues come from having a KZbin full stop. IMHO, you become a slave to it and it just kills the joy. So step away from social media and do what makes you happy. I did this and now I rarely post, and it's liberating. If you want to teach, run in person courses, they'll be more fullfilling.

Yes it would be liberating not to do KZbin that’s for sure. Thanks for your input. 😊

The KZbin statistics are very discouraging in my opinion. Before starting KZbin I already worked for myself as an artist, and I started creating video's as a creative outlet, without a plan to add to my income with the video's. But it can be very tempting to want to try and earn more money creating video's - it's a disappointing game. As soon as I attach money or amount of views to the outcome of my video's, the fun is out of it for me. I now try to see it as a hobby - to upload not more than 1-2 video's a month and let my income be through my art. The added bonus of KZbin is that it does create leads for your webshop etc. But when wanting to really create a full income with KZbin, I think I'd have to post weekly and the attention would be moved away from the essence of my art and towards creating video after video. Which is not something I could sustain.

I agree 💯. Its true the more time I spend making videos the less art I’m making. Thanks for your thoughts. 😊

I just buy better shelves and clear containers (many types of clear containers at dollar tree) and organize so that I can see what I have. I use many different mediums, I stick to artists quality, donate the brands and media I don’t use anymore. However for all of the different types I do I have, I keep it organized and where I can see what I have….also…my motto is “I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it”. I love art supplies! Great video!!!

What a timing of this video. A situation that happened this week made me feel super discouraged. On surface level it had to do with my competence in this one aspect of life however it was strong enough to make me question other aspects of my life (am I a good mother? Am I a good employee? Artist? Adult??). If I do reflect on it, though, it does come down to consistency. Consistency of showing up, to keep growing and keep improving. So that’s a really good point that you made. Just work and show up for yourself, and enjoy the process along the way. It’s humbling but I’m grateful at the same time. Thanks for a great video!
