If the soil is dilative, shouldn't we have strain softening for shear stress part?
@scottbrandenberg9567
@scottbrandenberg9567 3 ай бұрын
Yes, good catch! For drained loading the stress-strain curve should have a peak. The peak should occur at the maximum slope of the volumetric strain vs. shear strain curve. For undrained loading, vertical effective stress is increasing as the test progresses and may or may not have a peak in the stress-strain curve. It will mobilize a peak friction angle early in the test, then the friction angle will decrease as effective stress increases. The end result is that the stress might monotonically increase during the test, or it might form a peak.

Regarding tube samples, there are also field-extruded shelby tube samples. So, the sample is driven smoothly but at relatively high pressures using a relatively thick sampler and extruded from the sampler via one end using a hydraulic ram and a stopper for the shelby tube, (allowing you to immediately reuse the shelby tube sampler in the field and collect more but more disturbed samples). Or do you consider that "remolded"

The mic scraping was quite distracting, and there was basically a jump scare around 0:45. Good thing my volume was low. EDIT: Some random high pitched noise, fan noise? Even worse! EDIT2: Yeah around 3:20 the fan ramps up and down a bit. EDIT3: 11:26 oW! my ears! they bleed! EDIT4 And 11:35 was even worse.

And how does like 25-50% of smectites in the soil affect crop growing? Is it still helpful to have clay for agriculture with this rather higher content of clay?
