The horse weeps, hooves clumsily dragging the broken eggshell pieces towards the injured boy. He weeps, for he is unable to save the child's life. "Why, lord?" he cries out with Bahamian hollering. He doesn't understand why the king put him in a situation where he was of no use. He was forced to witness death. You know, writing this, I realized that maybe the horses were there to carry him to safety once the men would put him back together. Am I stupid

The chromatic and multi-metric wandering in the "without guidance or control" guitar-solo are great tone-painting. 👍

O m g. I've just thought about and commented on your flute quartet, how lovely this would sound for clarinet or woodwind quartet. And here it is

I enjoyed this. Have you ever thought of writing movie soundtracks? Also, I loved the visuals, particularly the animated couples from the late Victorian, or early 20th century,

Hi Dana I did a couple of "filmscape" pieces by way of an experiment, but not with a specific film in mind. This one of them kzbin.info/www/bejne/fn2Qe6mCbd6pj7s and the other is here kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIK2aGt4eqpmd68

I'm currently writing a story with two characters, one I associate with a classical guitar and the other I associate with the English horn. This album is really helping me imagine their dynamic together.

Very pleased to know this. Do let me know when you publish it :-)

@@DavidSolomons 😅To be honest, I probably won't. It's just a pet project and I'm still in the very early stages of writing. If I ever change my mind about publishing, I'll let you know.

BTW I recently made a playlist of those pieces in which I added the words of the original poems that inspired the music: kzbin.info/aero/PLLsXTyKAJ8SKuqfJUr5LE4btEUhdOeAOH

Aucassin was put into prison, as you have seen and heard, and Nicolete, for her part, was in the chamber. It was summertime, in the month of May, when the days are warm and long and clear, and the nights soft and serene. One night Nicolete lay in bed, and saw the bright moon shine in the window, and heard the nightingale sing in the garden, and she thought of Aucassin, her friend whom she loved so much. Then she thought of the Count Garin de Biaucaire, who hated her to death. Right then she decided to stay no longer, and escape whatever evil death awaited her. Nicolete saw that the old woman who was with her was asleep. So she rose and draped herself in silk that became her so well; then she took bedsheets and towels, and tied one to another, and wove a rope as long as she was able, and knotted it to a pillar of the window, and lowered herself down into the garden. There she took her dress in hand in front and behind and raised it up from the dew she saw sparkling on the grass, and she went through the garden.

Aucassin, when he heard of his sweet-bodied love, was stirred at heart; so he left the shepherds & rode his fighting horse into the deep forest & was lost to sight; & he spoke these three words : “Nicolete of the gracious heart, for you I came into the woods; I don’t follow tracks of deer but your heaven-blue eyes & gentle body, your fair laugh, your sweet breath. Not to be heartbroken to death may it please God I shall see you again, my sweet love!”
