Hey there! What move do you think should I try to learn first if I want to become a freestyle skater, and what should the progression be (I.e. edge work)?
@kalaikuia7 ай бұрын
Hey! I would say the grapevine. That’s probably a good start. Once you master the fundamentals of a grapevine, the skills you learn from that will transfer to any other freestyle move you learn. If you have more questions let us know. Good luck!!

@kalaikuia8 ай бұрын
😆 Thank you! Where we used to skate, there were a lot of figure, hockey, and freestyle skaters so we just watched all of them. We watched how they move, shift their weight, and we tried to copy them as best we could. I’m %100 sure you can learn how to freestyle skate. Tip: Don’t learn freestyle stops with figure skates. Good luck!! Come back if you need any help.

what sharpness do u use?

@akunpremium1311 Жыл бұрын
@@kalaikuia Do u recommend to use t-blade? If yes or no why tho?
@kalaikuia Жыл бұрын
@@akunpremium1311 If you’re a freestylist I would suggest conventionals, but if you’re more of a speed skater then T-blades would enhance your skating. T-blades are super sharp and it stays that way for a long time. You will have better acceleration, deceleration, and crazy sharp turns. Personally I’d just stick to my conventionals. Because I’m more of a freestylist, I want my skates to be more dull. Hope that helped.
@akunpremium1311 Жыл бұрын
@@kalaikuia i see... so using T-blades will be more difficult to drift than conventional ones am i correct?
@kalaikuia Жыл бұрын
@@akunpremium1311 correct. You will need a little more control and adjusting on your turns. If you’re a big power turner then T-blades will help with that.

Thanks for your response, just one question, how do you manage to get momentum, are you using your hips or are you pushing during your transition ? Thanks a lot Bonne soirée

So sorry for the late reply. We didn’t see it til now. But anyways, it’s kind of a mixture of both hip turning and pushing off your feet.
