It's sad when you realize she does love him, but says no because she can't have kids and knows that's something Ted wants more than anything. It's the same reason she and Kevin broke up. And this was shortly after their break up.

Robin did NOT deserve Ted at all!!!!! She deserves to be alone with her dogs and her career! That should’ve been the ending

As much as I think Robin is an extreme narcissist and only cares about herself. Here she actually did the right thing. She knew Ted wanted to get married and have kids. Her turning him down is her not wanting to take that away from him. She loved him too much to take away his dream. Yet Barney changed his whole life to make Robin happy and she flat out dumped him.

This is why I don't understand the series ending. Robin clearly did not love Ted the same way. She loved him deeply as a close friend and that sort og intimacy may feel like romantic love but it's not. I just wish the writers had used an ending that fit where they took the characters. Not an eneding they had chosen from the beginning.

Ted was really stubborn about being with Robin... She clearly didn't want to be with him, only got together with him because she thought he was good for her, nothing else. She didn't doubt about going out with Barney... TWICE and said yes when he propposed... and then since her marriage failed she says to Lilly that Ted was the guy she should have ended NOT BECAUSE SHE LOVED HIM but because was better for her... that is the only reason that i hated the end of the series...

I'm in this kind of situation right now. Fell for a friend I can't be with for sure but I keep clinging on any little chance I get to be close to him. The whole world is closed for me, I can't even move the city because of the "but what if" thought. That 0.1% of the chance is keeping me down to ground, I feel so broken and empty, I have no one to talk it through with, I'm just letting this go at least somewhere, under this 6 years old video of my favourite show. I've watched it when I was in my teen age and I felt bad for Ted, but understanding him fully here now makes it so much worse. I can't move on, I can't give up, I can't forget about that tiny little possibility, I don't want anyone else while I know that there is That one person. I need so much help, I need so much advice, i need so much support. "We're great as friends." We sure are, but we could be so much better as something more than just friends.

It just pains me how the show eventually does go back on itself and has Ted go back to Robin... after getting "over her" so many times and after this no which, I believe, was a true, grown up answer. Yet he still goes back to her even if it is as doomed as it always was.

This. This right here is why the finale was such a betrayal, more than anything else. I loved Ted & Robin too. But they gave us THIS. This heartbreaking, beautiful scene and sequence. You DID it, show. You broke them up, and we still loved them, and we accepted they were better off this way. Ted grew THROUGH it, and Tracy was the beautiful light at the end of the long dark tunnel. Why undo that in 2 minutes and 30 seconds at the very very end???

I really liked this scene, it's why I felt the ending was such a betrayal of one of the central themes of the story. Ted and Robin were not supposed to end up together, they were really good together but just not quite right, they were better off with other people.

This is the part that did just not make sense in this wonderful series. It makes you think, Robin doesn't deserve Ted which makes the end of the show kind of absurd or out of place in my opinion.

It’s clear, her “No” was a lie. The ending of the episode said it all with Marshall saying “Not Yet”. The fact of the matter is, no matter how many times Ted and Robin has tried to move on, there will always be something there. It really was just all about timing. They just didnt grow up old enough to finally appreciate each other. This is also the reason why I both hate and respect the ending. At the end of the day, they shouldve never killed Tracy, but the very first episode was all about meeting Robin. It took 9 seasons to make us see that he’s just looking for approval from his children to ask her out again..

Marshall was really the Best Friend of Ted (not Barney). Excellent music 👌

Forget what everyone says here, Ted never moved on. As much as the end came as a shock, the build up till the final episode showed Ted going all out for Robin. Over and over again. The writers knew what they were doing.

I was around 19-21 when I've first watched it. I've never really realize how painful Ted felt here. Now I'm 29 and now I do. It's like it's eating you out. You can't let it go as everyone says, you can't give up and move forward. It just hurts, a lot. Like all pain in your life that you experienced combined.

Robin lived with Ted for 3 years, I think the writers were just "padding" the show to make it longer.

While growing up, this show was so funny and meant the world to me to find the relief and comfort as well as the joy. But now I realise the lessons it taught me and it keeps teaching me everytime I watch it.

And this should of been it between them romantically. Period. Season 8 and 9 brought up their romance AGAIN and it should have stayed dead.
