Yeah, it was just called 'Omikron' in some places. One of the Bowie songs from his 1999 album was altered to fit it. Tank controls never get tiring (oh, wait, yes they do!).

Yeah, it's one of those Spectrum games that's rarely talked about. R-type kind of overshadowed everything else in the genre on the system, but I love this one!

I couldn't place 'Hired Guns' when you mentioned it. I had to Google it. It does ring a bell though - I think it was one of those games one of my mates played but I never got round to. It looks like a cross between a dungeon crawler and an isometric 3D game.

It was one I never played in the arcades, but, once I got the hang of the jumping/attacking mechanics, I really enjoyed it!

Wait, Aliens came with a map??? I had the budget rerelease of it, and that had no map at all, making the game pretty much impossible :D Was atmospheric though!

Yikes, I wouldn't have made it past the 'Armory' without the map (that was on the back of the fold-out) instructions). I bought it at 'full price' back in the day, so I had the big box version which came with the map. I can't imagine playing it without it!

Yeah, normally these old NES games cripple me with their difficulty, but this one was very playable once you got the hang of the controls and the way it played. Kind of like a fairer version of 'Ninja Gaiden!'

Yeah, it does look similar (I used to love 'Wacky Races' on the Dreamcast, but I haven't played it in ages - thanks for reminding me - I'll have to track it down!). But 'Duck Dodgers' was one of those rare 3D platform games that was actually quite playable during that generation of consoles.
