"Orgs are missing out on building an ecosystem in NA" No, NA players offer nothing of value to orgs lol. PA twitter has 3k followers, barely any engagement, same with his personal twitter. Advertising is what makes orgs able to pay gamers money.

great interview. it's been so discouraging seeing a lot of the discourse on hltv and twitter recently about the recent impact teams disbanding so it's great to hear another perspective from someone who is actually dealing with it all. hopefully soon we can have a truly co-ed CS scene. i think most men who play CS don't realize just how extreme the barriers of entry are for women and madss highlights a few important ones here. obviously misogyny in the game is the most obvious: it's hard to even play counterstrike when your teammates are being shitty to you, and orgs and advanced teams might pass on you for no clear reason other than your gender. but her point about access to resources is really important too! male players are so much more likely to have access to analysts, mentors, and industry connections, and male teams are more likely to be well funded by their orgs. and being signed to an org itself lets you level up - playing against stronger competition makes you stronger! the hope is that eventually there will be enough talented women playing CS and that the environment will be respectful, such that we don't need women's teams and Impact leagues - but for now these structures are vital for enriching the women's scene and allowing for female players to nurture their skills.

still a top talent. the man can do whatever he puts his mind to. no matter the position, role or job at hand steel can get it done. i have no doubt in my mind he will be playing in a major playoff in 2025. smarter than everyone else on the server and still dominates FPL with firepower alone top fragging consistently.

Part of it is cult of personality, people like him and the "what if" he never got banned will always play into people's minds. To be fair to him, as well, he has repaid his debts. He's shows his remorse. If you haven't already, I would watch his reflections with thorin and his interviews with Richard Lewis. Maybe they won't change your mind but you might at least get to see a different perspective of him/how he's changed

I second what 73i94L has said. I got into CS soon after that match fixing scandal was exposed. He's repaid his debt to the scene and he has directly apologized for his mistakes multiple times throughout the past decade. He deserves the opportunity to play again and try his luck in pro CS.

The match that was fixed happed Aug of 2014, and the ban was placed in Jan of 2015. He's served his time, and on top of that he was the only good NA IGL pro aside from seangares.

@@73i94L 100% agree. I used to hate the guy for what he did but he has paid his debt and is genuinely remorseful. I like him now. He's been great on broadcasts and has just become an open and honest person. And besides people like Forsaken are 1000 times worse. The only people Steel and Co hurt besides themselves were gambling junkies.

Lets not forget that after his semi unban, every roster Steel ended up leading, all punched way above their weight. Pretty much all players he played with had their best performance under him. And he most likely would've been picked up by the best NA teams if not for the ban. Obviously were a couple years down the road, and things have changed a bit. But so far on Undone he seems like a good fragging IGL, and over the years all his (CS, I dont follow Valorant) teams have shown steady progression. I Sometimes watch his stream, or when I see him on the broadcast he still seems to have a very good mind for the game. Still think he is one of the best NA IGL's and if after ten years he could still lead a top NA team, and make a major, that'd be worthy to write a book about.

@@mart1n10601 1, it was for a couple hundred dollars (not that it matters much) 2, they WERE given harsh punishments off the back of the scandal. We should be able to forgive people that have wronged if they express genuine remorse and actually self reflect. Let's not forget there were probably dozens of players globally who did this and never got caught because Valve thought extreme punishment against 1 team for violation of competitive integrity would be enough to prevent all players from doing it ever.

@@mart1n10601 Not to excuse Steel but that was one of the least important matches as well as the scene was not fleshed out like it is today. Players were not being paid that great and alot of sacrifice to even sustain a pro career for alot of players were rough. It was 2014, eSports was just gaining more popularity. Hell, if I remember correctly, the iBP team did not receive ANY salary and the only support they got was travel funding and a few sponsors (equipment), but everything else was on their dime. A couple thousands might seem small today, but in 2014, it was alot for just "playing video games". Ironically, the throwing/gambling scene is even worse today than it ever was, but go on and spout nonsense without knowing the situation. It's apples and oranges 2014 vs 2024 eSports scene.
