Do you animate using the blendshape sliders? Or do you end up adding controls to the face that drive the sliders?

This is so cool man! Been dipping my toes in 3d modeling this past few months and seeing this has definitely motivated me to keep going! Though it's pretty overwhelming seeing that there's so much work needed to make a model/render like yours. Still really inspiring though! Keep up the good work man!

So good. I work with Blender. Any go to recommendations for us blender users?
@3dcharacterartist649 Жыл бұрын
I’ve used Blender a bit, you can do basically all the same things. It’s a great program. My advice is not to focus on the program, but the art principles and practice.

How high poly is the bust you are animating? Asking bc it looks like those wrinkles are pretty defined in the face's shape keys. I use Blender and I've been looking for a smarter way to keep detail in my shape keys when I render with multiple subdivisions and displacement applied, but my base render mesh has to be low enough to still be performant in the viewport. I'd love to hear more about how your work is set up
@3dcharacterartist649 Жыл бұрын
The answer is generally that you should put as much detail as you need to hold the forms. You need at least a vertex for the two low points and single high point of each wrinkle if you want to control it in the model. Cheers.

Wow that was really interesting! I have worked in 3D for a couple years and had never heard of shot sculpting before, I'm glad I watched this. My only question though, what is done about the small amount of distortion created in the forms when using move brushes to push around the model between frames? Like the arms and chest kind of change shape? In production did you ever have other views of the shot to make sure that your poses were in the right profile view as well as the camera view?

Thanks for watching. Yes often you can check the other angles.

Photoshop. Cleaned one frame and then tracked to the footage. Could use some AI to help these days, but wasn’t around when this was made.

But how can we fix the cgi suit into ourselves without motion capture suit
@3dcharacterartist649 Жыл бұрын
You match animate over the film like in the video. Now could maybe use ai motion tracking to help.

Not every position, just throughout the sequence wherever you want to improve it. If you a clever about it you can reuse a shape later on or have that shape last a while.

If you have an image exported from blender like a tif etc make a fill layer in substance and import that image into the fill layer, if I remember correctly off the top of my head. Cheers.
