This movie was about 90 min. It communicates information efficiently. Could have been about 2 hrs with more development and better pacing.

I prefer the original film's ending where before he goes back to help the Eloi build a new world, he comes back to share the story and only Filby is the one who truly knows it was true. In this version, he doesn't really know where he went, he could have been dead in a ditch somewhere for all he knew.

It's a really interesting film. So very different from the book, yet drawn from common themes and extrapolating many of the same ideas. In some ways it is a story that I find it easier to engage with and understand than the original.

The remake was ok, but the original is still the best version.

how optimistic to think he'd gone off somewhere to be happy. more realistically they'd assume he'd been murdered and thrown in a river

*The actual legacy* After the Mara's army rained the fire arrows that later became flowers on incoming against the Buddha. The Mara accused the Buddha that his merits for this enlightenment are unwitnessed but his own are and let his fleets of minions approve. The Buddha replied that Vasundhara (mother earth) is his witness. Because each time the Bodhisattva (person to become a Buddha, in this case the Buddha himself in his past lives) did a merit, he'd pour little water from a little bottle to the ground to symbolize the purest charity, the mother earth kept all the poured water in her hair bun in countless times. Now when the Buddha referred to the mother earth she appeared and squeeze all the water off to approve the Buddha's merits. The water from the Buddha's merits was so tremendous that it flooded the high sky overrunning the whole fleets of Mara's army who previously filled up the sky and washed them all away.

I guess I'll be the 200th comment. I think from the way he adresses him - architect - shows that he has opened his eyes completely to the illusion. In fear, the architect tries to appeal to the ego fantasy by employing a glorifying, almost seductive choice of wording thus relying on mans ugliest sin; that which is vanity. "You who go where no one else would dare. Will you be my god?" Will he worship himself as god, thus forsaking what he has learned about himself? The path to enlightenment can be tempting in as to what it can bring the individual. Siddhartha has opened his eyes completely. "The earth is my witness." - Time tells a story of life and of death. The body dies, the ego dies and the grass keeps growing and the sun keeps shining.
