Just found your channel a couple hours ago and got lost in the content. 10/10 stuff, thank you! I'm a first gen grower in New England, learning from the guys whose families been doing these things for so long is great. Thank you

Curious how many good melons you average per plant? I have bushogged the tops just above the vine after first crop and made a good second crop averaging 8 per plant

That’s a hard one to answer. There’s a difference in good melons and marketable melons. As they get smaller, we usually can’t sell those. Thanks for watching!

How do you prevent blossom end rot on watermelons?
@ryanfarmsproduce
@ryanfarmsproduce 16 сағат бұрын
Blossom end rot in watermelons and tomatoes is caused by 2 things - low calcium and large fluctuations in soil moisture levels. Our soils are high in calcium, so we don’t have to supplement. Good soil drainage and consistent watering schedules, in drip irrigation for example, are very important. If your ground stays wet, you’re going to have problems. Some certain types of fertilizer can tie up availability of certain nutrients as well. I would start with a soil test. I’m sure there’s plenty of info out there on the internet. Thanks for watching.

What if you don’t like your corn to be microwaved, putting anything in the microwave ruins the flavor

I've been doing this for years but I've always done 4 minutes for the first ear and then add 2 minutes for each additional ear. I think 8 minutes for 2 would be too long. Just an FYI, good video though.

Excuse me, but how do you wash it? A lot of farmers spray their corn and I don't want to eat it unless it's washed good. Also, worms love corn if it isn't sprayed, and I don't want to cook worms with my corn.

Do you have a problem with sweet corn not pollinating good in the heat?Also do you blossom end rot on your tomatoes?We are in a heat wave in eastern NC and drought!!
@ryanfarmsproduce
@ryanfarmsproduce 10 күн бұрын
We finish up sweet corn around this time every year because of the heat. It pollinates fine usually. If not, then we don’t pick it. We do not have blossom end rot on tomatoes. Our soils are high in calcium and we stay on a daily consistent watering schedule. Blossom end rot is caused by either low calcium or inconsistent watering.
