That was amazing! I'd never heard that piece before now. Thibaut Garcia has a tone & vibrato that is very uncommon these days. I love it!

Superbe interprétation de ce très jolie concerto op. 140 de Ferdinando Carulli par Thibault Garcia. Sonorité ronde et chaleureuse du soliste qui développe ici une belle musicalité avec l'accompagnement subtile et de grande qualité de l'orchestre " Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra" sous la direction de l'excellent jeune chef Valentin Uryupin, digne représentant de l'excellence de l'école de direction d'orchestre Russe.

Would love to have this on CD! The sound is excellent and each artist brings there own instrument to the party, so there is a wide variety of timbres.

He seems to use significantly different fingering solutions in every video clip available. They all sound thoroughly like Julian Bream though.

An awesome document, great plying of some of the most difficult writing for our instrument. Too bad Pavel Steidl couldn't be included. His recording of the complete caprices is the Everest of virtuoso execution..

il ne peut y avoir de clichés dans l’écriture comme on le lit précédemment car Carulli est un des premiers compositeurs d'envergure pour la guitare 6 cordes et s' il fait l’admiration de son époque en montrant par ce concerto les possibilité la guitare comme instrument concertant avec des arpèges déroulés sur plusieurs octaves ainsi que les notes doublées à la basse qui permettent de ne pas être écrasées par l'orchestre qui ici fait une magnifique introduction pour laisser la place à ce magnifique soliste!!

Très belle interprétation de ce concerto datant de la période empire mais la passion du guitariste qui est parfait dans ce répertoire ne cache malheureusement pas les faiblesses de ce concerto noyé dans des arpèges gammes et octaves le tout avec une orchestration assez lourde qui fait regretter les sublimes parties de vent des concertos de Mozart ou la poésie sonore de Chopin ou la virtuosité est au service de la beauté ce qui n est malheureusement pas le cas ici

With slurs in the prelude, which almost nobody uses now, but which has always seemed to me the best articulation for conveying the feel of the phrases.
